    Taxes suck!

The more I think about it, the more I question where my taxes go to. I don't mean just state and federal taxes either.

There is the sales tax I pay, cigarette tax, alcohol tax, gasoline tax, death tax, estate tax, gift tax, inheritance tax, vehicle registration fees.

I've heard that corporations and small business must pay all kinds of fees and taxes all the time. And they are even double-taxed.

I still drive over pot-holes in the road, it takes forever for freeway/highway construction to be completed, emergency services don't respond as fast as they used to and it seems that I get less overall.

I think if everyone could see exactly what their tax money went to pay for. Something easy to read, the masses would say that all these taxes are a crock!

60% of the government is just redistribution of wealth. And people don't care because they are voting themselves more money.

Thats partly why your taxes are so high.

Only corperations are double taxed because a corperation is a legal person and pays income tax.

Tour taxes pay for part of my college . Schools, police, fire departments, all government officials, roadways, military. So many things.

              Don't get me wrong

Don't get me wrong, I know that taxes are a necessity. I can't expect to have the public services I do for free.

But when I think about all the money collected from all the different kinds of taxes, and crappy or slow results, it gets to be a bit much.

Collegeboy, even the states budgets are mired in garble and disguised so that the common taxpayer doesn't know exactly where it all goes.

For example, on the news in recent months it's been a big issue that California is 37 billion in debt. How does any state get to be 37 billion in debt and not know it? Or better yet, how doesn't the common taxpayer know?

I'd understand a million here and there but not 37 billion.

quite true. nearly 2/3 of taxes go to wealth redistribution. Defense spending makes up about 1/6 and other stuff (FCC, Education, Science, etc) make up the other 1/6. Thats for federal, as for local and state, yeh, go to the capitol or city hall and ask for info about it. They should have docs explaining their budget

as for why highways take so long, its because they keep it open while construction is going on. If they were able to close it down, it would be done in six months, but they have to let you drive on it while they work on it...kinda hard to do....

37 billion isn't that much. California makes up roughly 12% of US GDP and is the WORLDS 5th largest economy. The US defecit this year is 500+ billion. Thats about 6% of the US debt. So Cali is doing reletively well compared to the US gvnt. Gvnts and businesses lose money in bad economys and gain money in good ones. We have to hope that our leaders are wise enough to pay off debt while the economy is strong so when it tanks again, we can rouse it

Anyone heard of the band Corporate Avenger? They sing a song called "Taxes Are Stealing" and it brings up some good points but without taxes I wouldn't be able to drive down the pot hole roads I drive down now.

Typical repub garbage. Income distribution helps the rich more then it does the poor as I have shown many many many times on here.
