I think it will become obvious that a vote for a republican is a vote for larger government. That a vote for a democrat is a vote for a larger government.

I think one side will win the elections (wont matter which) and government will grow, and more of my money that I am working hard to make will go to someone else who isn't working hard to make it.

And we'll continue to get closer and closer to the magic time when over half of all Americans receive money directly from the government (who thinks that number will start to decrease then...).

We will build robots that can think for themselves. They in turn will destroy the human race to the brink of extinction. Only a few million will survive and escape into deep space, forever running from the Cylon race.

Yeah it's starting to look more and more like this is getting to be the norm.

The day this happens I'm going to declare war On the town I live in, immediately surrender, and sue for war reparations.

I have Johnny Cochran on speed dial...

Its not going to be noticible in the least, probably wont even make the news. But it will put us one step closer to a major change happening in government. The simple fact is we will not be able to continue to increase who pays the bills forever. Eventually we would get to a point where it no longer makes sense to work.

I certainly don't think we'll continue this until our system collapses. But I'm positive we'll delay change as long as possible (ala social security), and then finally impliment some new policy before things really get crappy. And the pendulum will finally change directions for a while.

A democracy . . . can only exist until a majority of voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury.

                    -Alexander Fraser Tytler
It really wont become a problem for a few decades at the current rate, and who can predict what will happen before then. But neither party is doing a damn thing except taking more money from one (shrinking) class to give to another (growing) class. Can't happen forever.

I think there should be a third party who doesn't give all this BS. A party who will pay the defecit, still have a aggressive foreign policy, force the people on social security to stop recieving it by hey guess what? not giving it to them. Limit the government to do what its supposed to do, not making them make the decisions for us, no gun control laws, destroy all liberal thought.

                      Hmmm what else?
Oh yeah Iraq will become a stable nation, we will kill Sadam and Bin Laden(if we haven't already).

AIDS is a problem, but what if there isn't a miracle cure? Seriously, what if there isn't a way to cure AIDS or make a vaccine of some sort? People are always starting to think that technology will solve all the worlds problems. Maybe there needs a different approach to this, a more drastic approach, as opposed to whats been going on which just consists of money donations to research. If worse comes to worse, I say move them all, everyone who is HIV or AIDS positive, and make their final days as comfortable as possible until they do make a cure. You may say that is violating so many human rights! Or how could you be so cold hearted! but you know what? It would for sure stop the spread.

You want the government limited to what its supposed to do right after saying something that clearly is not a specific function of government.

Its not that I disagree with you, but this is just another example of someone wanting to shrink the government...except for the programs they want.

I agree with you Restola on a lot of these ideas. I disagree on the lack of need of welfare type programs (and no the vast majority of people on welfare work just as hard as anyone else does, just doesn't get paid for it). I would like for this country to work there self to a point where the government is of little use and only provides for our basic needs (defense etc..), but then that would be like communism.

As to how we can reach over that magical hump of need for welfare and no need, I have no idea, but I hope one day someone will figure it out.

Yeah my bad, I see that now. It is a oxymoron lol. But see if we decrease the government and hardly have a foreign policy at all, what about South Korea? or Isreal? Phillipines? Should we let them fight their own fights? You know what maybe that would be good, stop meddling in other countries buisness and let them develop on the own and start focusing on our own problems in our country.

Then you will quickly be faced with a problem that is too big to handle. We can not put up boarders and lock ourselves in and expect to survive.
