books that are turned into movies

I don't understand this. I am not a big fan of Lord of the Rings. Actually I hate it. I think it is very boring. The author is very descriptive though, I just think everything he writes is really boring, but these are my thoughts

I read a few other fantasy novels after Lord of the Rings, and loved them. I read a lot of Terry Brooks, Robert Jordan, and Orson Scott Card (i really only like Orson Scott Card's Enders Game, because all the other books are too religously motivated) but these books were probably the best i have ever read.

I don't understand why they don't make movies out of these books. They would be more fun to watch. Those who have only read Lord of the Rings, read some of these books, because i know if that is the only science fiction novel u have read u will think it is the best, but if u read any of the Author's books that i have just listed u will love them.

Furthermore, my question is why don't they make movies of these authors. They would be so much more fun. I've heard rumors of a Orson Scott Card movie, but nothing else.

well...overall i find LOTR's plot pretty interesting. i like warhammer 40,000 better, though, more violence and blood....oooo...violence and blood... j/k but warhammer is still pretty cool

I have no idea why you think it's a bad movie, but that's fine to have your own opinion. But I personally have read many SF novels and so far, I'm about halfway through LotR and is my favourite series up to date ive EVER read. The reason they make movies out of books is because if the book sells very high, the movie is likely too. Basically making money anyay they can.

You may find it boring just as many other people do, which is fine, but overall I think there are many more people who enjoy it and I also think that the lotr books are more popular then some of the other books you mentioned.

LOTR is a really descriptive series and thus easier to make a movie of and stick to the book. I am a tolkien fanatic but it does somtimes get boring (THE ADVENTURES of tom bombadille) you were right about that though. BTW did you see ther are coming out with a Hellboy movie, another bandwagon flick i guess

ur trying to make ur opinion a fact, still an opinion. i have read the authors that u listed, david eddings, and not a sci-fi write but matthew reilly. i like all of them, but LoTR stands out as the best. In the movies they forgot some stuff, like the dwarves in the battle of helms deep. that kinda got me angry, cuz it woulda been 2x cooler with dwarves lol. ur opinions about LoTR books are fine, but then later in ur post u say things like would and are

ya i really never read my posts twice, but i did, and i noticed that i kind of meant it to be fact after awhile. Jeeze I must be the only person who thinks this though. I thought that there just wasn't enough action in the book, but i guess i am the only one.

I don't know how you think Tolkien is boring. Robert Jordan can go on for, literally, 10 pages about a gem hanging off of someone's dress. I find that Jordan is a good writer, but the sheer descriptiveness of EVERY little detail was a bit much.

I second the Rainbow Six movie and Warhammer 40k (that would be most interesting).

I know it ain't a book(I think), but another Final Fantasy movie would rock.

its all about the benjamins baby

every movie made is at the risk of the film studio, so picking a book that could appeal to a large audience, and that most people have an idea or heard of it = money, possible sequel(s) = money ,cross marketing - video games, merchandise, home release = money.

Most literary experts seem to agree that Tolkien was, at best, a mediocre writer. What he did have was an outstanding imagination, and the world he created was enough to sustain the books. The movies are very well done, and seem to contain the stuff that makes the books interesting, while disposing of the long rambling speeches and the (UGH!) songs.

The funny thing is Tolkien never wrote these stories to be published. He wrote them for his kids, probably to put them to sleep. I love the series and i have never put too much faith in literary experts. Id rather form my own opinion...and who can create a unique language on their own? Tolkien did.

I know not everyone likes them, and thats fine with me. Each to his own. If everyone liked everything, how would we know what was good and what bites?

I have often thought Enders Game would make a great movie. Speaker for the Dead was ok, but nowhere near as interesting.
