Man OutKast is awesome. But, they should of titled the song "Back Of The Bus" instead of Rosa Parks.

What's cooler than being cool? ICE COLD!

Shake it like a polaroid picture!

She probably didn't want her name associated with Rap.

It's interesting to hear young people rag on Rosa Parks....like she is some old-wench-gold-digger. You guys have NO idea what she did. Sure you may know that she stood up to a white man and refused to move to the back of the bus. Oh how cool. What a rebel. But I would bet there are very few of you who would have done the same. She was a small, black WOMAN! You guys think you are rebels cause you got piercings and colored hair....oooo look at me, I'm a rebel. I wear an old trucker hat that was popular in the 80's and I snowboard yo. She friggen put her LIFE on the line to take a stand against an injustice.

            Wusses.

Oh, and I'm also glad to see we have such brilliant legal minds here on AO. You guys actually caught something the supreme court missed! Way to go. Have a cookie. Whatever.

All the Supreme Court said was that they weren't going to prevent the case from being heard. Her claim was already rejected once but she later won an appeal.

I disagree with her and think she should lose the case. That means next it will be ok to sue REM for the Man on the Moon sond. She's simply wrong. Her name is no more protected the Bush's is when the Beastie Boys want to do a song bad mouthing him. It's ok to bad mouth people, so long as you do it honestly. (as in no defamation and the like).
Or better yet, why don't you kill yourself. No, really, die. Drop dead, don't leave a note, in fact burn your house while your little ego is stuck in a bench vice so that you'll also incenerate yourslef and everything you own with it. Because that's all you're worth. You're not even wirh thte time it'll take for the house to burn down, so just kill yourself. You're a waste of space. You are nothing, you always will be nothing. Don't leave a note, you're not worth the ink. - Tyger

She just wants money. People get offended to easily.....she needs to get over it.

Beam I do not think that what Rosa did was too terribly dangerous and would tend to believe that she gets too much credit for her part in the Civil rights movement. She however was a very famous for what she did and fame comes with some price. Now the star wars kid that got put on the web without his permission even though a silly suit has more merit than a famous person suing for someone using their name while at the same time trying to profit on her fame.

beam you are judging history by todays standards. you cant do that. what blacks went through in rosas day you cant imagine. she could have been dragged out of her house and lynched for what she did back then. so show a little more respect. what she did was brave and took balls.

DUBBLEYOO TEE EFF mate? did you read my post? I was defending what she did and even stated that she PUT HER LIFE ON THE LINE.

As for the whole legality of the thing. I am no lawyer (honest, I'm not), but I have to believe that if someone uses your HIGHLY recognizable name to their profit without your consent, you are entitle to sue them. If OutKast made a song called Jim Beam (my dad's name), my dad would NOT be entitled to sue, but I bet Jim Beam, Co. would be.

The main reason for me posting is I was just bothered by all the "She's just an ole hag" type talk. She deserves more respect than that.

Parks had become familiar with previous challenges to segregation: Another Montgomery bus boycott, fifty years earlier, successfully eased some restrictions; a bus boycott in Baton Rouge won limited gains two years before Parks was arrested; and the previous spring, a young Montgomery woman had also refused to move to the back of the bus, causing the NAACP to consider a legal challenge until it turned out that she was unmarried and pregnant, and therefore a poor symbol for a campaign. In short, Parks didn't make a spur of the moment decision. Rosa Parks didn't single handedly give birth to the civil rights efforts, but she was part of an existing movement for change, at a time when success was far from certain. She just had good PR (NAACP) behind her! She does deserve respect though.
