No he didn't. The vast majority of the movies is accurate to the books. He had to make some compromises to make the movies fit into the time frame and still be understandable, and entertaining. You are being an uber-geek.

Whoever wrote the adaption of Battlefield Earth, now THERE is someone who took way too much liberty with the script. That movie was some sort of twisted mangled wreck of a pretty damn cool book.

true, I waited a long bloddy time for that book to be made into a movie. it was a travesty.

and so was Dune for the most part...

I actually like Dune, especially the super long version.

I never read Battlefield Earth however, so I can't comment on how good that book is. I had to read Dianetics(sp?) in highschool, and that took L Ron Hubburd off my to read list forever.

His SciFi stuff is pretty good, actually. Hes a fairly good author when he stops trying to preach.

Anyway, I go for round 2 tonight at 630. Almost seven hours of Return of the King on opening day. Maybe I am the ubergeek...

Do you think the story that he made up that religion on a bet with Asimov is true? I'd like to think so even if it isn't true

Hey, I just saw it and they most definatly pulled it off. The battle scenes were amazing (Those ghosts kicked ***!!) and the whole final scene inside mount dune was really cool. It was even better than the other two, well hella better infact and it didn't even seem like 3 hours.

As far as the accuracy goes, it still told a great story and I enjoyed it, so the parts they did mess around with or cut(like how they get a hold of the orb) didn't make a big enough impact for me to really complain about.

I loved that look on Gollum's face at the end.

Now I can't wait for the Extended Edition. Some parts of this one were a bit choppy. I'll be seeing again on Christmas day.
