And regarding sex, ALMOST every teenaged boy would take sex if it was offerd,

Okay, let me clear some things up: Straight Edge promotes a life free of permiscuous sex. Do you really think there's not a sizeable portion of kids who won't go around tapping every slut in school?

even you straight edgers, most people just don't have the opertunity.

      MMMmmm, big muscular hardcore kids.

I also love how you all think it's so cool to add X to words. Your all such a joke.

Yeah, I do think it's stupid, but I really don't care if they do it.

is it really retarded to believe in something completely and utterly? sure, what i said did sound kind of lame, but to be honest, its the truth. and frankly, i would still do it if it wasnt "cool." not that it is, i take a lot of flack for my beliefs. while you are certainly entitled to your opinion, does it really make sense to come here and spew hate over something that harms no one, and is a totally positive influence in the lives of those who follow it?

Look, I don't drink, I don't do drugs, I don't have sex. Does this make me straight edge? I don't think so. I don't see why kids feel the need to identify with some movement. Can't your actions be an indicator of your beliefs?

I don't do that stuff, but I don't feel the need to prove it to anyone by drawing Xs on my hands or wearing a Throwdown sweatshirt.

I agree with the basic principles, but why does it have to become a scene? And I'm going to keep making fun of straight edge kids because they're funny, even if I do agree with them

ok, i suppose i can compare straight edge to christianity. i know that you believe in god, and in jesus christ. why do you have to identify yourself as a christian? why do you have to go church every week? to coin a phrase, cant your ations be an indicator for you beliefs?

I'd like to add my opinion to this thread. I havn't read through most of the posts, so bear with me if I'm off track. Drinking is awesome. You can travel through time, and you can kick the crap out of superman. Other mind expanding drugs also rule, for similar reasons. Really bad drugs are bad though. Drinking beer, doing certain drugs, and having sex with hot chicks is cool. I just can't comprehend how you could think othewise.

The same thought crossed my mind. First off, I do think that both our actions are indicators of our beliefs, so don't think that I'm selling you short.

But I don't go to church to let everyone know that I'm a Christian. I don't draw crosses on my hands or wear cheesy Christian t-shirts. If someone asks me, of course I'm going to tell them what I believe, but I think its more important to show it through my actions then through my words.

I can understand kids putting Xs on their hands for a concert, but I really don't see a reason to do it at school or work, aside from letting people know that you identify yourself as "straight edge". And I think some Christians are guilty of the same thing (kind of like the Pharisees in Biblical times).

good point. you are certainly not the evangelical, "out there" christian. i respect your beliefs, even though they are not my beliefs. however, if someone is proud of their beliefs, isnt it a natural extension for them to exhibit these beliefs? now, i am not the type to my hands up every day, but i certainly dont see anything wrong with it. i guess its all a matter of opinion.
