are you on an uninhabited planet? if so, you just gotta wait it out and hope a ship comes for ya. Just sit the game in 2x speed and watch your radar. Eventually a ship will come for you.

On a side note, this is an excellent arguement for buying batteries and solar panels. A solar panel is the first upgrade I get for any ship, just for that reason.

On another side note, belonging to the United Shipping Company, or the bounty hunters, or the federation increases the chance a ship will come along and save you.

k, which version of EV are you playing? Classic, Override, or Nova? If one of the first two, I can definately help. But if it's Nova, then sorry, I can't.

And, just like the other said, sit around and wait for a ship to come for you. Ask them for assisstance and a fuel reload . Then negotiate to a respectable price, get fueled up for that one jump, and back track. Repeat till you get back to civilized space.

magman- i dont' wanna self destruct..i JUST bought this ship...and i'm doing the vell-os storyline, because i'm stuck at their old home planet lol.

lethargic- yes, the vell-os home planet was destroyed. my hopes for it having a port were demolished . i had a solar panel and two battery packs on my other ship (i just bought this new one..asteroid miner), and didn't have enough for a solar panel (sucks for me). how do you set the game to 2x speed? HOW DO I BECOME A PART OF ONE OF THOSE???

          sir brass - nova

everyone- i know i gotta wait it out for a ship but this is seriously so far out that i didn't see ANY ships for the past 4-5 jumps. all i see are these krypt pods, which if i shoot them, they automatically kill me. the chance of any ship coming out here is slim to none.

oh and there's a hypergate here but every time i try using one, it says access denied...how do i use them!?!?!

vell-os homeworld?!? thats pretty much a death sentence when you are out of power. I'm pretty sure normal ships NEVER come out there.

I think your best bet right now is to restart the game. Then, keep doing missions in your little shuttle, and get a LOT of cash. Work your way up to the nice used Valkerie, but stay away from the crappy cheap used one. (It is pricey, but an awesome ship) Next, look for a mission string, especially the Wild Geese, Polaris, or Rebel strings. They give the more fun missions and ships. Above all, aviod the vell-os. The missions suck, and the ships you get arent worth it.

Also, 2x speed is just the caps lock key, and the UN shipping missions, bounty hunter, and Sigma missions all randomly come to you in the core systems. Just check the bar on every planet you go to. Hypergates are sigma ships only, so try to do their missions early on in the game.

                whew...

THe game is Escape Velocity: Nova. A game ONLY for the Mac . It's HUGELY successful. THe game has two previous and equally successful precessessors -> Escape Velocity: Override, and Escape Velocity (classic). EVC (Escape Velocity classic) came out in 1997 or 1998 (can't remember), as a modular, easy-to-play, deeply involving and addictive shareware mac-only game. It quickly developed a HUGE cult-like following of players and modders always looking for creating new items, new worlds, new missions, new EVERYTHING. The game is basically a brilliantly designed real time role-playing free-roam space adventure/action/combat game.

If I still had a mac, I'd be a devoted EVN player, but sadly I don't have a mac anymore, as owning a PC is best for me at the moment with me at school. EV is one big reason I miss my mac, b/c I miss that game. The only things in this world that I love more than EV/O/N is anime, and paintball.
