I dunno if I have a favorite cover. Someone mentioned Phish and they have done some great covers (Whipping Post and Hurricane would be my favorites). I wouldn't really call All Along the Watchtower by Hendrix as a cover of Dylan's...they sound nothing a like

On a side note. There is a band out of State College PA called Velveeta. They are one of the best 80's coverbands I have ever heard. If you live in the PA area, I suggest you take a look at their web site (www.80scheese.com) and see if they are playing near you. (also, check out the pictures, if you look at the Jan 3, 2004 show, I took some of the pictures)

I would have to say that either the Cure's version of Purple Haze or the Unseen's cover of "Beat It" would have to be my favorite.

Yeah, I meant that both those songs were originally written by Dylan and I like the Hendrix covers. Dylan was a great songwriter but just didn't have a great voice, I hate when people cover a Hendrix song though cause in my opinion it just makes the song worse.

I've got two. Tool doing Led Zeppelin's "No Quarter", and (I'm going right off the board with this one) Motorhead & Girlschcool (Wendy O Williams) doing Tammy Winette's "Stand By Your Man". This has to be heard to be believed!

I saw them do it live years ago. It blew me away. When they were finished, Maynard said "Anyone under 25, we wrote that song."
                              Incredible cover.
