downloading music should it be stopped?

i use to download all kinds of music off of kazaa and imesh but i stoped for now becasue of all the things on the news. i was woundering if they should jest let people download music and videos or should they continue stopping the downloading? i think that we should be able to because i am not pay $18 at the mall or cd store for a peice of plastic. and even if i do there is only one good sond on the cd. what i used to do was download like three songs off on cd that i liked and if i liked it i whould buy the cd as cheap as i can. i sometimes i still do at my friends house. pluse all the networks that are doing this like kazaa and others is a sharing thing. its like takeing a big cookie and shareing it to the hole world. other people might want to try this one cookie out and if they like it they can go out and buy it but only for music and videos. i even downloaded a hole cd from my favorit band and i still bought the cd to. i am makeing this a poll if they should let us download or keep in tring to stop us. i want to here what others have to say thanks

Its like taking a big cookie and sharing it with the world... And not paying for it...

So go to Napster and get the "one good song" for $.99 or if you actually like the whole album, its $9.95.

Should the downloading of music be stopped? No.

Should the illegal downloading of music be stopped? Yes.

*Edit* I can't believe people pay $18 for a CD. When I buy, I prefer to hit the used stores/sites and if I have to buy new, I go to Best Buy or a local store that has most CDs for less than $10.

How is that fair to the recording artist?

Ok well I had a very interesting conversation with someone who remembers vinals and 45's (the little recordish things with only 2 songs, not the guns ).

He told me how back in the day they had records for a good chunk of change, and that they had the 45's for only a few bucks. Meaning they could still get songs and hae money go to artists. And thee wasn't as much pressure for Bands to push out 12 songs a year. And they were able to put out GOOD songs because of this lack of presure. Lets face it, that is a hell of a tough job to do.

On to modern stuff and changes that could and are happening. First theres the Napster 2.0, which you have to pay a Buck a song (much like 45's in the olde days). SO that can take alot of pressure off current Bands to having to pump out 12 songs a year. SO MABEY, they can worry less about how much they play and start on how GOOD they are. IT could spur...who knows...mabey a good song for a change.

Also I hear talk of them lowering the price of CD's, cause thats the main reason why some people DL illegally in the first place. So mabey they are finnaly gettign teh pictuere of not charging you basically $2 a song per cd, when most of the songs arent even worth $.02.

Your cookie analogy doesn't work at all. No analogy will justify free downloading.

Pay for your music and quit complaining. The reason CDs are $15+ is because the record makers know you, or someone else, will pay $15+ for said peice of plastic. If you think it is expensive, just start listening to the Radio.

I'll start spending money on cds when the RIAA stops suing 12 year old girls.

the way i think of it is im previewing the songs or cd before i buy the cd... usually when you go to the artist webpage and such you only get a small sample of 1 or 2 songs on the cd and usually its not the whole song and usually songs are different on the cd so i like to preview the songs i want in there entirely

but yeah anysongs i really like orbands i like ive bought there cd. and usually there the smaller artist that teh normal population would never hear about in there entire lives so yeah im actually helping the artist out more then the radio is cuase you wont hear most of the bands i like or listen to on the radio
