Ok so many to quote to dispel rumours etc

Malibu is indeed coconut flavoured Rum and understrength to boot
Newcastle Brown (newkie brown) is english and a rather heavy/strong bitter comes in large bottle...the Aussie stuff is Castlemaine...weak as piss
Guinness is only to be drunk from the tap ie draft..two versions normal and super chilled both strong enough and both good :)
Absinthe is indeed illegal in the states and canada but not here and it is rocket fuel..well dangerous and you only do the water and sugar thing when you are starting to get used to it. Comes in 3 strengths basically very very strong, stupidly strong and mental strong.

To add my favourites to the list,

Black Sambucca, not chilled as americans do it but room temp and set alight and dropped in one (blown out first )
Jim Beam, black or white label but prefer black label
    Absolut Vodka
    Crown Royal

Beer, anything really but prefer most of the european stuff such as Grolsch or similar

Absinthe can be obtained in the states, but its different from the stuff you get in Europe. I'm not entirely sure what the difference is as I've never tasted either version, but I'm sure its not the same.

I don't think its a strength issue as you can easily get Everclear (95% pure grain alcohol) in a liquor store, it has something to do with the ingredients. I know Absinthe used to have some sort of narcotic in it in the 1800s or so, although I would assume they leave that out in modern times.

There is an Absinthe bar in Canada somewhere...I read a link to it ages ago but they serve Ricard or Pernod as a substitute. Absinthe as in the stuff I can buy comes with the UK proof numbers on it and also the american proof numbers it exceeds 100% in the american form...I know you can't get more than 100% but you can when you are converting from a different maths system and the bottle I last bought was the medium strength one...it varys from a light green colour to a dark green depending on the maker. The wormwood extract is no longer (alledgedly)used in its production according to the label. Incidently Absinsthe is said to be the drink that sent Van Gogh mad. Oh if you read the links technically Absinthe is still illegal in the US but customs tends to turn a blind eye to it

Historical aspects of the world's most misunderstood spirit, plus its comeback and current status, and warnings against drinking essential oil of wormwood, which is not abisnthe.

Absinthe distilled from real wormwood plant.Made the old way. Buy genuine Absinthe and collectibles. Vintage Absinth reproduction. Absinth Museum.

By the time the night was over I was no longer capable of controling anypart of my body

Everclear, the thing most HS people mix in their drinks at football games. Coke, DP, Sprite, you name they mix it. Even the stupid ones mix with gatorade but what they don't know(I dont know if this is myth or not) but it could kill you somehow anybody want to clarify?

Wormwood is illegal in the U.S., that's the difference.

Uhm, the only way everclear could kill you is if you drank too much and got alcohol poisoning. But drinking too much of any alcohol could do that.
