AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
cphilip, I like Tony too, my guitar player plays alot like him, but even Tony doesnt come close to Django.
You guys that dont know who that is, look him up. He was shredding guitars in the 30's before most of the guys you listed were born. And he only had two usable fingers on his left hand.
my favorite solo....
Douce Ambience by Django

Well I wont argue. But I will point out that those are two totaly different styles. So that would be hard to say one was better than the other in that respect. At thier own style perhaps you have an argument. But then that goes either way.
And by the way for the rest of you... we both talking Acoustic guitar here. No fake stuff. Real fingers on strings making all the sounds.
AGD, where we are so good we can do it with only ONE tube!

thanks cphilip, i was about to post this. unfortunately a lot of musical talent these days is a little too digital for my likings. i listened to a bit of tony rice, hes awfully talented. but, i still stick with my man tim reynolds. seeing him perform 'stream' live was one of the best musical experiences i've ever had.
If you ever get to see Tony then do so. So you can see what he is doing there. That is predominantly "Flat Picking" style. Very Jazz adaptable as well as blue Grass.
But also if you ever get a chance to listen to a CD set called "Tone Poems" that he and David Grisman did together its awesome.
What they did in this was to go to various museums and they took Vintage intruments of museum collections and recorded a period tune with each sets of these. A Guitar and a Mandolin. There are several sets of these "Tone Poem" CD's. But the first one is the best and that was Rice and Grisman. The CD insert is a book. And it details the history of each Instrument with color pictures of each. If you like Acoutical instruments this is a must have set. All of them are good.
