lol. they only don't compare cuz they affected you differently. do late night (i assume that's what you meant by light night) shows decide what is OK to joke about and what isn't? gimme a freaking break. and i have heard plenty of 9-11 jokes made on the air, if you wanna go there. in terms of the individual, a national tragedy can have the same effect as a family tragedy, if not less. in fact, the fact that it's a national tragedy really has no relevance in terms of humor; what's funny to one person clearly isn't funny to the other, and that's the point. so don't try that senior!

Apples and oranges! They do not compare. Ronny is a public figure as is OJ, Michael Jackson, Rush Limbaugh, etc... They are all open to humor and satire. Pearl Harbor and 9/11 are not the same thing! Not to hard to differentiate.

not to be too rude here but is it really your business that dead eye is making a joke to a friend irregardless of what its about? so what if you've seen it first hand, alot of people see things and if you can separated a joke from your relations then you need to re-evaluate how you look at things i think personally. and i find it sad when people like dead eye try to enjoy some things in their life and others shut it down because it may hurt someones feelings is pathetic...

(and i appologize if this doesnt make alot of sense im having a hard time tonight keeping things straight in my head lol)

you are right. Michael Jackson is..well funny, but what he did is not. Rush is..well he buried himself on all his self rightenous, but his drug dependency is sad. That is all I was coming at. The situation is a gray area and people will react differently according to their own personal situations. Take care in what and how you say things. Yes humor and satire will always be prevalent but on the flip side as you well know contradictions will arise. You seem to have a personal problem with anyone who does not take your side or will only partially go with what you are saying. There are two sides to every story not just the one you brought up.
Every disagreement I have seen you in turns into a ever evolving sway from the original statement with numerous justifications of whay it is acceptable in your mind to act the way you did. Congratulations to yourself on that.
I am more than open to see others point of views when expressed in a concise manner but yours distract with the "well it was okay cause they said this and they said said mumbo jumbo" You pulled that when dragging impostal into it, take heed of your own personal situation.

I realize that it effects everyone differently. That is why the joke was very mild. Maybe you should look at a few more of my posts. I try to inject humor everywhere I can.

If you look at some of the debates I have had with others, I can look at both sides as well if you bring a real argument and not made up "Facts". Ask Aaron Mag. He and I rarely see eye to eye in debates, but we respect each other. Look at Impostal22's posts. He calls people names, flames, etc... In the Political COmpass thread I was called a homophobe because I felt that the Mass Supreme Court setting laws for the entire US was wrong. He never asked whether I was for or against it. He immediatly branded me a homophobe.

Guys:

I love Ronald Reagan. I think he's basically the best president of that century.

But, the fact remains that he does, in fact, not remember his birthday. And it is a sad and tragic fact, but it's true. I wouldn't have made the joke, but it isn't an evil joke or anything. Especially since I happen to know that Deadeye, in all likelyhood, has the same kind of respect and admiration for Ronald.

And, let us not forget, the man himself makes jokes about it. He is quoted as saying "my favorite part about Alzeimers is I get to meet new people every day"

Ronald has a sense of humor about his terrible affliction, so I don't think it inappropriate that we do as well, so long as it is kept in good taste.

just for clarification, i never called you a homophobe. EVER. also, how are you going to talk about respect on one side when you cheer on people like facts and rooster? i RARELY flame. you know that, don't play games. it's people like rooster and facts that flame. everyone on this board knows that. give me a break.
