Since you obviously missed joker's post...Firearms are made for different purposes. Guns are made for defense, target shooting, and plain old hunting. Most people who handle firearms maturely, and responsibly never have a problem with them. However, accidents do happen, as in anything. Firearms are not made to kill. They are made to launch a projectile traveling at high speeds down a barrel and out away from the user. Beyond that, they have no control. The one variable in the equation that does have control is the user. A gun is going to do what the user makes it do. As will a knife, pen, car, airplane, cactus, rock, paintball marker, etc.

I own several of the "evil" guns - Mac-11s, ad Ak-47, a high capacity pistol gripped shotgun, along with various others. I can promise you that their purpose is not to kill. Could kill, yes, but considering my experience in martial arts, I would not need them to kill, as stated many many things can be used to kill. But, the purpose of my guns is not to kill.

they don't have to be for killing.the cops mainly use guns to hert the evador.so they can hert them or get a way.but in my town my mom is a cop has only pulled her gun out once in like 19 years.and she did not even shot it

See, here is an argument to own a gun. I am not trained in martial arts. So if you were to attack me, I would have to shoot you to defend myself!

I wonder why people hate guns so much. Essentially, it's the same as a bow. It launches a deadly projectile. You don't see people wining about compound bows. They kill too. I think people who don't like guns are afraid of the loud noise. Those stupid pansies.

I guess people aren't as concerned because the APS (arrows per second) do not compare to the BPS (bullets per second).
