yeah I guess it sucks the lady burst a gasket while watching mel gibson get nailed to a cross... but its more of a travesty that its used to further hype this flic.

I am sorry for my contempt and general disconcern for the sancity of life... but really there is a higher crime here.

Mel Gibson isn't in the film, he's just directing it. He's pretty brave to do such a controversial film like this but that's why he's so badass.

I read an article saying there's very brutally graphic torture and crucifying scenes. Anyway, bad news about the woman dying.

Had you watched the interview with Mel Gibson you would know that he was in fact in the move, twice. The first seen was when you could only see Christ foot, that was Mel's foot. Also the Roman guard who nailed the first nail into Jesus, that was Mel's hand holding the nail and hitting it the first time.

i still can't believe that he paid for the whole movie's production out of his own money

im pretty sure he could afford it, but im also sure there are investors, and production budgets we dont hear or read about. He will make back more than what he spent, thats for sure.

This is true. In fact I would not think saying it may be the highest money producing movie of the year if not past few years would be much of a stretch. The controversy alone makes those on BOTH sides (hate it or love it) buy tickets.

And that is not including video and DVD sales.

I doubt that. Return of the King just passed a billion dollars this week. Passion may make a ton of money, but I severly doubt it hits a billion.

Well I saw some numbers on this the other day but cannot recall exact figures... I think they said it only (gulp) cost like 30 something million to make. Which they say is very low for such a film. They said typicaly a film like this costs over 100 Million. And critics say the sets and effects LOOK like a much more expensive film and they are stunned it could have been made for so little money. So they predict it to make money no matter what because it was a "relatively" low budget production.

Lucas dropped 130 odd of his own cash on each of the latest 3 movies, and that was owning all the production. It should have been closer to 200.

But it just goes to prove that money can't buy class.

at readings of chuck palahniuk's short story "Guts" people are passing out and vomitting EVERY time! beat that. don't expect to seee a link here because there's a reason why those with weak stomachs are passing out. watch for it in playboy. (playboy had backed out of purchasing it until he started reading it on tour. now they're going to publish it in one of their issues.)
