    Rally vs. Power

Alright, I'm wanting a car, but not just any car. I want one that you don't see very often. One is brand spankin' new, the other is really small. One is powerful, the other is nimble. So please, help me make this choice!

Also, if it makes any difference in the decision, I'd be going with the 200 HP engine in the Mini

seeing as though there is no 200HP engine in the Mini, that could be a problem.

Get the GTO, the mini is a chick car through and through, not to mention it's front wheel drive. a front wheel drive vehicle made by BMW, they should be ashamed!

Well, not so much engine as an engine job. It's called the John Cooper Works tuning kit:

"An uprated supercharger, modified cylinder head, parallel-flow sports twin exhaust, recalibrated ECU system, and more. The result is even stronger overall performance including a boost up to 200 hp, and faster acceleration."

And also, I'm not basing this decision on whether or not they look like chick cars. I think these stupid rice burners everyone has are chick cars, but they seem to be the "cool" thing to have right now.

Also, a big reason I want a Mini is cuz I like to go really fast around corners

umm get a miata or S2000 if you want to go fast around corners. Minis are front wheel drive. No where in the dictionary of sports cars is there front wheel drive, so don't go there. S2000 would be my pick or maybe a 350z would be pretty sweet also.

The GTO has power but it looks awful. Looks like the current Monte Carlo Body.

Wait a couple months and get the new Dodge 300c with the hemi. 340 hp rwd 4dr AWESOME!!!!!

Or get any BMW! If you like doing curves fast, they will lay the power down nicely around curves!

Get a nice, used Mercedes. A 5 year old will run you about the same as a new American or Japanese sedan.

Mini Coopers don't have a 200hp engine. We have one with every upgrade option available and it came with sometihng like 160hp. I would still recomend it above the GTO.

You can get it closer to 200 with some small performance parts. We added a pulley for the supercharger, new exhaust, cold air intake, lowering springs, control arms, and we are about to get a computer. Right now we are at something like 185-190 hp.

Mini's are more known for their handling. When we took it out to the track we were easily keeping up with Porche's. It handles like a gokart.

"No where in the dictionary of sports cars is there front wheel drive, so don't go there."

Umm, at every track I've ever been to Mini's are leading the pack. If you want I can show you pictures of our mini clearly ahead of otehr "sports cars". Because a car is front wheel drive doesn't mean it can't have plenty of go.

"...the mini is a chick car..."

                  A fast chick car...

"Also, a big reason I want a Mini is cuz I like to go really fast around corners."

Then get the Mini. If you do a couple little things, like springs, control arms, and tires you'll be planted in the corners.

the minis have always been FWD and have always been considered a very popular rally/sports car overseas.

I would go mini. I love them to death.. my biggest dream is owning an original. (so long as its not a clubman)

*edit* FWD vs RWD means little in my opinion when the car is so small and balanced. 350zs are huge rolling tubs of lard, and S2000s are only fun when you can rev them up.. they have no torque and can feel like nutless crap driving across a town with stop lights.

Also beware that the John Cooper package is a $4000 upgrade.... and all the parts should be avialible aftermarket, so your only paying for factory install and a small factory warrenty.

*one more edit* and if your talking NEW GTO.. ala holden.. then you might want to look at some austrialian reviews, as they have a history of getting beat by japanese cars like the WRX STi.

Oh theres a car you might wanna look at... power (276 hp) and AWD

In that price range you can get a WRX then put one of these kits in there...

                        Turbocharged AWD under 25k...

Or one of these...if you have $$$

Yes thats enough power to show a Ferrari Modena your tailights! By alot...

Figures stated are ALL WHEEL horsepower measured at the wheel...

BHP (manufacturers rated HP is at the flywheel) and dont account for drivetrain loss. Add around 50 HP to the stated...

The stg 5 upgrade kit will net you around 410 horsepower.

                        NEED MOAR BOOST!!!
