Requiem for a Dream and Pi

First off, if you haven't already, go to Best Buy and get the Two Pack of these movies... These two were probably the second best $16.99 I've ever spent (the first goes to the Animal House/ Blues Brothers two pack). I mean hey, they are DEFINATELY worth the 4.99 to rent them, so why not just spend another 4 bucks and own it?

I don't really know how to describe these movies... but F'ed up would be one way. Darren Aronofsky is an excellent director, and the editing along with the soundtrack just combine to create two of the best movies I've ever seen.

Oh, and a side note... Anyone here know the name of the classical theme that gets played all over Requiem? Thats a sweet song and I need to know who composed it.
Hey Zero, how much did that Chipley cost ya?

Dude requiem made me never want to take even an asprin again. But, you have to love his gritty directing style. He really pulls no punches.

I love Requiem, it's probably my favorite movie. I think it's crazy how the first half of the movie makes heroin look like the best thing ever, and then the second half just destroys it...never seen Pi, but Requiem is AMAZING

Did anyone notice that the Requiem theme song was used in the Lord of the Rings tailer?

Yeah Clint Mansell remix'ed the Requiem theme for LOTR.

I own both, I liked Requiem more, as the guy in the DVD booklet said it should be standard watching material for all highschool students.

Pi was insane. The headaches were the best part, I had to watch it twice to "get" it, but other than that it was awesome. You don't even realize the black and white after a bit.

I think the Requiem(yes I scrolled down to see how it was spelt) soundtrack was done by a little group called Chrono Quartet, I know that had some work on there, not sure which.

I'm a big fan of both movies, but vagueley remember alot of Pi, so I think I will go buy that two-pack of DVDs.

Same director, its Aronofsky's first movie so its the same style, though a little he seemed to mature a little bit more with requiem.

Its about a mathmatician who is slowly going insane while trying to find patterns in the stock market. Somehow orthodox Jews and a greedy stock brokerage firm get involved, and it sets up to a sickening climax... If you thought that dudes arm was messed up in Requiem, this just blows it away...

I've seen Pi, great movie. Still need to see Requiem. The group you mentioned is actually Chronos Quartet, and they do kida avant garde classical. Their CD's are excellent, if somewhat "edgy" for classical.

I wish I had seen Requiem, I might be able to identify the song. Just off the top of my head, the most overused classical song seems to be O Fortuna, maybe its that one?
