    Yeah sodium is so reactive in water it has to be stored in a type of oil and it cant be put out in open air or water vapor could make it explode. It sounds like fun.

      I don't think it will actually explode from water apor in air. It would probobly react, but not explode.

      The reason it explodes when it hits water is because it breaks the H2O apart so fast that it gets surrounded in Hydrogen gas and the heat causes it to ignit causing an explosion/fire.
