Ricers are annoying. They are cool to look at but I would rather have a chop down. Something from the 50's. Haven't decided on a truck or a car but I am kinda leaning towards a truck due to the larger engine compartment. Settle for nothing less the 550hp. Geared right and turn you can go 0-60 faster then a Diablo.

Yes! Every car thread turns into an import vs muscle discussion. I love it!
Obviously I'm all for muscle cars, but I'll respect anything that goes fast. Key word: GOES. I could care less what it looks like (personally, I like sleepers, big old sleepers). But it better sound like it has balls, not like it has a crotch-rocket enginge. Get a nice big V8, throw some headers and 2.5 or 3" pipes on it, pair of new mufflers, and the resulting sound will be breathtaking. Afterward, put a gear drive timing box in it, and your car will sound orgasmic. Add a supercharger, and your ears will want to make love to you. Run open headers with a gear drive and supercharger, and your neighbors will want to stone you (but any car guy will admire you)- There's no replacement for displacement.

2.5in pipes are for whimps, my camaro came with 2.25 pipes from the factory.
Headers are in my basement waiting for a suitable car
I would say i'm responsible for a good 60% of car thread being turned into either muscle vs rice, or a a dodge/chevy/ford battle.

as long as it runs ill drive almost anything. i dont like fancy imports much, Stock they are effecient and long lasting, and i like that.
Some Imports are interesting, others the guys that drive em go way into it and make it not cool. im not a fan of cars (or anything.) that sound like chainsaws with coffee cans taped to the bumper pretending to be mufflers. if you have a high pitch coming out of your tailpipe, make it quiet. if you have a desireable sound comin out the make it loud. thats just the way to to it. if i ever get enough money to make that truck reeeeeaaaally nice, itll be a sleeper.
i think body kits and spoilers look dumb. they try to make it something its not. its kinda like putting 20s on something just because theyre flashy. i hate that. why not make it fast, and just change things that need changing. rather than paying a fortune to put some plastic trim on put the money elsewhere, im a big fan of door poppers and functional stuff.
Learn how to make something yourself, be original. fiberglass isnt hard to work with once you get the hang of it.Last edited by SGTKennedy; 03-18-2004, 05:31 PM.i dont like signatures. so i turned them off. AO is much better this way.Comment

what i find scarey is that in the future, us guys that go to the car shows lookin for the rarest of rare cars are going to be replaced by young guys lookin for supras, silvas, skylines. i predict that in the future muscle car shows will get rarer and import shows will grow drematically. think 30 years from now, they will be showing off plastic pieces of crap. restoring civics HAHAHAgiblit

It's funny how people connotate rice with imports. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. ARE GERMAN CARS RICE BURNERS? NO!
Anyway, civics and other economy cars shouldn't be used for racing. They're not bred for it. I'd expect to see a lancer evo or wrx sti rally racing since they are based off real race cars. I'd expect to see a supra or skyline dragging/road racing since they were built to race. I'd expect that out of a 3000gt, a 300zx, a 240sx, the list goes on. A lot of pro-muscle guys see a nicely modded 240sx and call it rice even though it is probably fast and has great handling, it makes me sick. They need to learn to discern rice from an import sports car.
Fart cans = rice
altezza lights = rice
c4rb0n f1b4z b0mb 3ff3cts kyt = rice rice rice
BUT
Speed = not rice
Handling = not rice
If there is speed and racability, no matter how ugly/ricey the car is, it isn't rice. It may look like a rice burner, but it isn't. Speed is speed is speed is speed. You have to remember that.
What's the point of having a rusty muscle car with an engine that only pulls 200 due to poor maintanence and bad parts? There is no point. It's just as bad a rice burners.
Quit dissing imports like they are rice burners. It's a bad stereotype that really gets on certain peoples nerves (namely mine). Rice sucks, muscle kicks butt, but so do real import racers.
Giblit: that'd be extremely sad to see mucle and hot rod shows go. I love the old style. It's so simple and clean, it's classic, you can never go wrong with classic.
I see all these stupid rice guys driving around with horrible looking kits now, it's really bad stylistic taste. So many kits I see on cars these days break up the flow of the whole car and I see more and more of these kits coming out. The real car enthusists love clean and classic. My friend had an integra, (not rice might I add, it pulled decent times, though not the best. Sadly he crashed in the rain before he could finish his car.) it was one of the cleanest and nicest looking cars I had seen outside of a big show. He didn't put a spoiler on the car, he didn't put on a full front bumper kit, or full rear. He got skirts, and a front spoiler. He kept it simple looking and clean looking, shaved some stuff and tossed on a carbon fiber hood and gave it a quality paint job. Then he dumped the rest of his money on his engine, suspension, and brakes. It was a damn nice car for a fairly decent price. He just finished a civic type r conversion and guess what? It isn't a ricer. It looks like it should be stock except for the small things, He cleared out the yellow on his tails, got better lights, and has nice 5 lug rims. Everything else he dumped into performance. It looks clean and sleeper except for those small cues that give it a good touch.
My friend is one of the few import people that actually have taste. I'd say the ricer vs real car enthusiust ratio will be around 20 to 1. I'd hate to see only 10 good cars out of a 200 car show.
