gmag, It worked. I did not have a nightmare. Last night it worked. I didn't stop to rember my dream wen I woke up, but I do rember having control over the dream. The control doesn't matter to much to me. I am just geeked that I did not have a nightmare last night. If it happens again tonight I will take the time to rember it and let you know about it.

Hmm very very interesting. I really want to try it tonight. Some of the things that people in here are saying sound pretty freaky to me though. I think that if you can't control lucid dreaming very well, it could become dangerous.
I was also wondering if the dream seemed so real and you didn't remind yourself that you were dreaming and you dreamt of yourself dying then it would seem as if it really happened and your brain might even shut down. Maybe you should REALLY stress the fact that the dreamer should try very hard to concentrate on the fact that you are in a dream and not in reality.
Btw what is it like? Does can you actually feel and smell things like you do in reality?E-mag

Yes, you can smell and feel things in your dreams... Your imagination fabricates whatever you want... I remember eating one time in my dream... food tasted good...

and what is it like when you switch from one dream to another? Is it just thinking that you are somewhere with a specific surrounding and everything just changes and starts to appear?E-mag

That never happens unless you're lucid dreaming... If you are moving to a different location it is a smooth transition.

I know there are books out there about Lucid Dreaming, but doesn anyone know if there are any mishaps that can happen? For example, falling into a coma or something else.E-mag

I had something wierd this morning but not sure if it connects with lucid dreaming.
I was sleeping when the phone really rang and I heard it but I was still sleeping and I dreamt that I got up to pick it up and then my dad got on the phone while I was still listening and then another person called and was on the other line. Well then my friend called my cell phone which was next to my bed and I woke up and realized that I was dreaming, but it seemed pretty real. Is that sort of like lucid dreaming?E-mag

good progress...
I'm glad to hear some of you guys stuck with this, and are getting some results. I just want to reiterate that it takes time. If you don't remember your dream the first night, don't give up. Give it a couple of weeks and you'll get some real results. Just to answer some of the questions:
1) Lucid dreaming is about being aware of your dream. Taking control of it is your choice, and usually you can't help it. Once you realize your dreaming, your instincts kinda take over. When you lucid dream you know you're dreaming. So if you do die, then you'll simply wake up. You know your safe in your bed, so you realize no harm can come to you.
2) Your brain won't shut down. LOL.
3) Lucid dreaming is a form of responding to your subconscious through your dreams. There is nothing to lose, only power to gain. Are you going to sleep half of your life away like the average man, or are you going to take control and unite the mind and body as one. Dreams are valuable, don't throw them away.
4) agdplayer-You were induced into a lucid dream by your phone. It happens all the time(but most of the time its an alarm clock). Most of the lucid dreaming products on the market help to induce you by sending signals through light or sound. You can download programs that help to induce lucid dreaming while you sleep. You simply leave your computer on through the night and it activates at a set time. Its loud enough to get your attention, but not loud enough to wake you up fully; resulting in a lucid dream."Men think they think upon great politcal questions, and they do; but they think with their party, not independently; they read its literature, but not that of the other side; they arrive at convictions, but they are drawn from a partial view of the matter in hand and are of no particular value. They swarm with their party, they feel with their party, they are happy in their party's approval; and where the party leads they will follow, whether for right and honor, or through blood and dirt and a mush of mutilated morals."

I had a semi-lucid expirence this morning.
I woke up and started doing my normal routine. Stumbled around my room to find my towel hanging over my computer chair. Grabbed that and walked through the kitchen and into the bathroom. I turned on the light. Hung my towel up and went pee. Flushed the toilet. Walked over to the shower and parted the curtin. I was about to reach for the water knob when I saw there was a towel hanging inside the shower. There was a towel rack inside my shower and there was a single wet blue towel in there. I thought to myself and came to the conclusion that I didn't have a towel rack inside my shower. I then realized I must be dreaming. For some reason I got really mad and stormed back into my room only to see my body laying in bed still. I ran up to my own body and started to shake it! Just then my alarm/radio clock turned on and I woke up.
It was kinda cool!

Does it smell like updog in here to you?

Xspyx, thats very interesting. You saw yourself in bed? I have never seen myself in bed in my dreams before. Sounds cool. Its good that you recognized a signal and realized that you were lucid dreaming. Impressive.
Here's some food for thought...(out of my dream dictionary)
~Shower-a shower may symbolize spiritual energy and cleansing. You have been cleansed, your worries are washed away, and you can begin afresh.
mystical meaning~a shower may be a symbol of healing.
Sleeping-dreaming of being asleep may indicate that part of you needs to be jazzed up a bit. You may have become complacent or dull. From a philosophical standpoint, it may represent the nature of the human predicament. Ignorance is sleep, but to understand reality you have to awaken.
mystical meaning~Many people report dreaming of seeing themselves asleep in bed. When it first happened to me(the author)I suddenly realized that I was actually standing outside my body. This phenomenon is known as astral traveling."Men think they think upon great politcal questions, and they do; but they think with their party, not independently; they read its literature, but not that of the other side; they arrive at convictions, but they are drawn from a partial view of the matter in hand and are of no particular value. ok in the past year i have remembered like maybe 5 dreams and have had like 3 lucid dreams.
one i was on Saved by the bell and was walking around talking to all the people and me and zach were hanging out. that happened after i woke up early in the morning then went back to sleep.
two i was in jarassic park being chased by raptors and t-rexs you all scared out of my mind a stuff trying to get to safety then i was hiding in this house when t-rex tore through the roof and ate me. and i just sat there and watched then i realized i was back were i started so i kept trying to get to the safe spot (a rail road car)but i was still scared then i got caught again and again and i wasnt scared after that and i was all running around dodging dinosaurs and whenever i got caught i just started over. then i made it once and then decided it was boring and found a stick or somthing (i dont remember) and went out and started fight em.
my third i was kyle katarn from jedi knight and i was with lora croft from tomb raider (this was before i had even heard they were making a movie). and we were going around in this computer game world, i dont remember a lot from this one. i just remember i was this [ ] close to getting some of lora. hehe
im going to bedI only began to truly understand my problem when I started to notice myself unsuccessfully trying to include myself in conversations that didn't existComment

I've been trying for the past three of nights, but some nights I don't even remember dreams. I only have one dream written down. How is it supposed to take exactly?
On another note, reading Manike's post a couple pages back triggered a memory, I remember being in a dream, and somehow, I knew it, and it scared the hell out of me, so I tried to wake up. Only I couldn't. At this point I was frantic, running around, and every time I turned around, I was in another place; my school, the supermarket, my house, etc. I remember being real scared about not being able to wake up for some reason.Comment
