while we're playing the blame game, lets balme violent video games. After all, they caused Columbine, why not this too?

Saying that the media and corporate america is responsible for your child growing up wrong is pretty much saying that the TV, radio, and video games have taken the parent role in your household. If you want to agree with me, fine. Of not, I really don't care.

I just laugh when parents fine a scapegoat for thier child's behavior. It's just denial, and piss poor parenting as far as I'm concerned. I guarantee I have watched more violent TV, and played more "M" rated video games in my 17 years than any of those children have, and I have yet to have the urge to steal, maim, destroy, or brutalize anyone I've encountered.

The problem with these children is that they have parents who pass the blame to everything around them, and refuse to acknowledge that the problem lies a whole lot close to home.

I know this sounds kinda preachy but i thougth it went well with the topic

"Husband and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other and for their children. Parents have a sacred duty to rear their children in love and righteousness, to provide for their physical and spiritual needs, to teach them to love and serve one another, to observe the commandments of God and to be law-abiding citizens wherever they live."

Theres more to it, but i only put what i thought applied here. If u wanna hear the rest of it just pm me.

It aint that simple. All that teaches the child is not to say it in your presence & to fear you.

...and what about those kids that dont have a parent around to TEACH them WHY its wrong?

              Its Both.

I'm sure you've heard of a game called "Grand Theft Auto-Vice City"
Marketed to kids by our wonderful toy companies.
Many Millions of kids have access to this Crap that dont have strong parental role-models to counteract what this does to their minds.
Gangsta Rap is tha same thing.

              Am I wrong?

What BENEFIT did either of these things ever provide to society?

Anyone remember the kids who went driving around shooting people, and blamed grand theft auto. I mean common sense tells you that when you shoot people they die and you go to jail, no video game could ever take that away from you.

what are you talking about? how was it marketed toward kids? it says quite clearly "Rated M". if parents want to ignore that, that's their business. i see nothing in the ads that seems made to appeal to young children. the only reason kids want it is because everyone's got it. word of mouth. do you really think playing a character in a hawaian shirt appeals to young kids? no. it appeals to people who used to watch miami vice and hawaii five-o.

benefit to society? oh sure let's get rid of everything that doesn't benefit society. it serves no purpose. get rid of it! no, entertainment doesn't count as a purpose. let's get rid of all non-educational games. let's stop making stupid movies too. from now on no more movies that don't make you think. movies like lord of the rings we can do without. and books! no more romance novels. they make real life men look bad. and none of this stephen king crap either. and what's with broadway nowadays? why was cats around for so long? what purpose did that serve? from now on we only watch plays where there are important lessons learned. or at least something with classical music and sung in another language.

ok. so the whole point of this is that we live in a free country. you want to protect children by limiting what the entertainment industry can put out? move to a communist country. heck i hear in some countries they don't even allow their citizens free access to the internet. how's that for protection?

Wrong. You are letting them drown. I don't have any kids. Just because you can't control your kids doesn't mean someone else can't.

I happen to love the Grand Theft Auto series, and have listened to "gangsta" rap on quite a few occasions. Have I ever tried to act on the actions I hear about in the songs or act out killing prostitutes, running over cops, or just randomly creating havoc?

                          OF COURSE NOT!!!

I think you give us kids too little faith. We'll grow up just fine so long as we have decent role models in the REAL WORLD AROUND US. I've never seen a kid that acted based off what the TV told him/her. But pretty much all kids will do what their parents tell them to do or not do.

Her past history has nothing to do with anything.

If a girl/woman says no, going further is rape or molestation no matter how she's dressed, how she behaves, or how many other partners she's had.

She has every right to charge someone she didn't want touching her for doing so. At no time do you give up your rights because of past history.

As for the other men, well they should all be charged regardless of how the girl felt about those relationships (at least those that were old enough to be considered majors).

It's disgusting that this is classified "weird". It should be classified "morally reprehensible".

I thought I's fill in the holes, here. The article said the man was already sent to prison for 3 or 4 years before they even found out about her past. Yes, he's behind bars. News of the weird is a huge deal that gets printed in MANY newpapers. It has a website at newsoftheweird.com or something similar to that.

Which then makes you wonder why it was reported. If it's not a disgusting seedy way to try free the pervert, why should the girl's past be newsworthy?
