They have 30 days to claim the stuff, and the money doesn't bother me, I'm just a worker not management. At least for now, in a few years I'll probably care.

You win for this week.Originally posted by skifetoday's haul:
1 pair of jumper cables
1 trash drum
and we scored a set of aluminum ramps that you load dirtbikes/quads/lawntractors into the back of a truck with.
Bottle jack
Angle Iron
Copper pipe/tubeing
Body hammer
Their was tons of other better stuff but I didn't have the time to get it out. I found out they basically emptied out someones shop when he went on vacation. It's pretty sad. The guy started working there when he was 17 and is now 82, he was their mechanic for many years until he couldn't do the work anymore. Now he just works there a couple hours a day changing wheelbarrow tires and such. He doesn't own the place so what they did wasn't wrong from a legal standpoint but it's like his entire life just went in the dumpster. All his old tools, old car parts, old 60s and 70s car posters, etc. It's going to kill him when he gets back.
What gets me is they don't even want/need the space. The new supervisor just plain doesn't like the guy probably because everyone else does like him so much. They won't let him fire someone who has been there for that long though so I suppose he's just trying to be as much of a jerk as possible to get this guy to leave. I bet I know who is going to be the one loosing their job over this though. Thing is he'll just get a new job, this guy is never going to get back what went in that dumpster.Last edited by PyRo; 02-22-2007, 11:40 AM.

i dont know about me winning this week.
how much of that copper did you find?
#1 copper here is at like $2 somthing a pound.
short steel is at $180 a ton.
sheet steel is $100 a ton, me and my buddy just loaded my dad's 3/4 ton truck and drove 20 miles with 1000lbs of steel in it
we made like $64 or somthing. and cleaned his yard up.

Not a whole lot. About 10-15lbs of copper, I got 2.50/lb last time I was there. Steel is $5/hundred for anything, including dryers, refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers, etc but it's not worthwhile to pick that stuff up. Found an air conditioner last night though, 5 bucks.
The angle iron I'm keeping, makes for good plow frames, bumpers, winch mounts, etc.

Yeah technically anything in a dumpster is still the property of whoever rented the dumpster. I found that out when I was about 12 we were pulling lawn equipment from the dumpster of a small engine repair shop that burnt down and the cops showed up.Originally posted by skifewe got a sump pump last night, dont know if it works yet.
would have got more but someone was walking twards up while we were in the dumpster so we just boogied.

i know this, my whole family on my dad's side is in the trash business.
my dad runs equipment at the landfill.
his 2 brothers used to own their own trash company, they sold it and started building the dumpsters we dive into.
and my grandpa owns his own trash business.
so trash... just kinda runs in my family.
