Bread loses it's effectiveness in about the same amount of time it's gonna take me to write this post. The best minnow baits are generally anise oil based.

I shovelhead is type of freshwater catfish, all tackle world record 126lbs, very ugly.

Oh, a flathead catfish.....I've never heard them called Shovelheads before. Yea, I use bream and bluegills as bait for those suckers. That and small carp. Your best bet for feeding one would be the biggest fish that will fit in it's mouth.
