who pays for shipping on this one?

I bought a product from Company A. Right now, it will just remain company A. Company A sells several products. I ordered 1, that is similar to another they sell, though it has a difference in the product, a noticable difference.

I pay x amount of dollars for it, ships, shows up pretty quick. Turns out to be the wrong thing..

so, am I expected to swallow the shipping back to company A for this item, that was incorrect to begin with, or, should company A pay for the return shipping to them, then re-ship to me, without charge to me.. after all, i paid for a product, and shipping for that product to me.. but got a different one.

    opinions, thoughts?

You paid company A to send you a specific item. They have yet to send said item.

seems pretty cut and dry to me...

As far as return shipping, contact company A, explain the problem and ask for an RMA

Seeing as they made the mistake, they should rectify it.

most MAJOR companies include a UPS label (or Fex Ed) in the package with a RMA number and their address and their billing number on it so you can send it back at no charge (UPS will get it from your house).

However, you should look at that company's return policies. If their return policies state you pay shipping, you should suck it up and pay it. If they make no mention of it, then they should be responsible. I don't think there is law for this sort of thing, unless its intrastate commerce...in which case there may be.

If you really want to make a point, and they refuse to pay the return shipping, dispute the charge on your credit card and you can keep whatever they sent you for free.

If you didn't pay with a credit card, file a complaint with the BBB. It may take 2-3 weeks, but if they are a company of reasonable size they will pay it to make you and the BBB happy.

if there is a Return Address label and it says you have to pay for shipping, give them a call. They should mail/email you another Return address thing that will be free of charge.

it came with no RA label. so, I cant go that course of action. I checked there site, there is no return policy. i have sent an email to customer service, but, that was about the time i started this thread.. and I havent gotten a reply yet, which is fine. I expect it would take some time to get back to me on this.

as of right now, there is no real problem. I just wanted to put this question out pre-emptively and see what the crowd response would be.

Easy one - I work for an on-line Clothing Store, If we ship the wrong colour/size/item/whatever then we ask the customer to return it to us, refund their postage costs and usually give them back their original shipping charge by way of compensation

PLEASE DONT FLAME ME, im lazy and dont feel like reading all the threads, but heres my help.

UPS will return the package to the sender for free, just call them and leave it on ur door step. USPS Will ask you if you have opened the package and if you havent they will return it for free.. So most business use UPS so hopefully this one did. And if its USPS you could always lie

it was USPS, the package was actually not sealed (though it did come in one of those UPS papery folder thingys). but, it was opened and all that jazz, and I dont wanna lie about it, not just yet anyways

i had an issue with the wrong item shipped to me from a company, lets call them gaintballpear.com. i had to ship them the incorrect item on my dime, but i included a recipt for the shipping charges and they refunded that to my credit card and they paid for second day air on the correct item. in the end it worked out but i was pretty hot about having to use my own cash to get the ball rolling. since they picked up the tab on shipping and would only ship the correct item once the incorrect one was back to them i sent it next day air. figured what the hell, its free for me and makes big brown a few extra bucks.

this just happened to me. I ordered a barrel kit and the wrong front came with it. I finaly got up witt the company and they sent me the right tip that day (which was yesterday) and told me to ship the wrong tip back whenever I wanted. They offered to pay for the shipping, but since they handled it so nicely I will go ahead and pick up the tab of a few bucks. Most of the time they will pay for it, just make sure though.

I bet company A is Paintballgear.com. That store royally blows. I have had so much trouble with them shipping the wrong thing, or no thing at all!

anyway, as stated above, call the company and see if you can talk to someone

^^ The toll free number is there to put you through 15 menus, then hang-up on you. I always e-mail first.

Good luck with your shipping fiasco though
