94 Taurus (second engine) 280K on it when was hit by a full size Van

92 Explorer, beat the hell out of it (went through about three transmissions, but did those offroading) 225K on it, my friend owns it now

'80 Chevy K2500 - heavy model - appx 500K on it when I sold it, second engine. Saw this get the hell beat out of it two

'92 Chevy truck, owned by a chemical company and only used offroard, junked out at just over 200K

Most vehicles, maintained well, will last you to 200K.

Our Audi 5000 Turbo had quite a few before it died. Well over 200.

Sierra has 300,000kms on it, only thing that went is the starter and a low temperature sensor. It's a diesel though they generally last longer.

          I said cherokees are fine...
Most grand cherokees will have tranny problems before 200k.

Yeah its all about the 5.0. I got a 1990 with 160k. Runs great. I know someone with over 200k on his 5.0 and it still runs like new.

any car that gets routine maintainence, like regular oil changes, and that isn't driven hard, like lots of sudden accelerations or decelerations...

accelerating is the cause of 90% of the wear and tear on a car and its essential components.

it also helps to not live somewhere that salts the roads like crazy... so Texas/Arizona would be good for your car, whereas Michigan is a horrible place for cars... they rust in a matter of years, as opposed to decades without salt.

Most of the wear to a motor is done on startup because when the engine isn't running, the oil cannot circulate, and it takes a secont for the oil to get through the motor and start lubricating.
Most of the wear on a tranny is done driving in stop and go traffic because it is shifting more, heat is the enemy with transmissions, the hotter they run the less life they will have.

Hondas definately will make it to 200K. I have an Accord with 170k on it it's a 94 and went to 145k with the original clutch and radiator. I didn't have to do a timing chain till around 125k. The body is a little beat up but she runs like a champ. I would buy another without blinking.

VW's with Disels. My dad had one that lasted 300,000 miles .

                                VW Rabbit.

Any diesel car or truck will last well beyond 150k.
