Army, I have a package almost ready to go out for you. Hopefully you can get it by Memorial Day. There will be something hidden in the box that hopefully makes it past customs, be sure to check for contraband before discarding the box! Cheers from a fellow veteran

Found out a real bummer today. A kid from the town next to mine was killed here two weeks ago, when his Hummer rolled on top of him.

          Prayers for his family.

Soldiers go, soldiers do, soldiers die. We know, and accept it.

          HOOAH to his memory.

Sad news there It is a shame that anyone has to die and so many lives are thrown upside down because some people do not play well with others.

Army, your Memorial Day package was delayed but is going out Monday. I have no idea how long it will take to get there but I bet it will be later than Memorial Day. Enjoy anyway, I know mail is always a morale boost when you are deployed. Just a little sign of gratitude from the folks at home and AO

As with all things military, make sure you do an inventory when you open it! Packing list follows:

Personal hygeine stuff (toothpaste, t-brush, soap, shampoo, q-tips, baby wipes)
            Powedered Kool-Aid
            Beef Jerky
            Ravioli
            Tuna
            Sun Flower Seeds
            Homemade brownies
            Homemade cookies
Paintball magazines + catalogue (one has a AO Tex-Ball article by Clare)
Playboy magazines (concealed under the bottom of the box)

Keep it safe and the green butter bars away from command & control

Wow, thanks Recon! The "reading" material will be quite welcome

Fortunately, my company has NO LT's! As we are a security detachment, we are commanded by a Captain and a 1stSGT only, with 7's running the platoons, and 6's on the squads. It's actually pretty nice this way

Just wanted to say, thanks for going out there and fighting for our country cause that's pimp and all, come home safely because if you didn't that'd suck, I mean... without you... we wouldn't have you... on the forums... and... I'll shutup now...

I would send something but I don't really have anything... you wouldn't have any use for a digi-cam would you? takes 1.3 mega pixel pics and I have no use for it... kinda broken but you could take some pics with it and upload them somewhere or something o.O

It works, has a crack at the bottom but yah still works, all it needs is a USB port to plug in the cable.

Am I the only one in the army that likes LTs? Ive found an impressionable young officer to be quite useful every now and then. Its the impressionable young officers that need to be convinced to put some freaking roll bars on a humvee so when theyre in charge less people might needlessly die. I find it ludicrous with the amount of rollover deaths the army has had in Iraq that they dont see fit to design some form of cage to protect us.

That's pretty stupid, Soldiers should go out fully equiped or not at all. America has the money to pay for it, and the fugging know it.

Humvees should always be army classified with all the bulletproof stuff, heavy duty rollcages and plenty of padding incase of said roll =P

                        Pretty ghey =(

                          Hey Army,

I sent out your package a couple of weeks ago, I packed it as best that I could, hoping it isn't broken when it gets there.

Keep your spirits high, thanks to all who serve on this Memorial Day Weekend!!!

Now THAT'S the hardest job of all! It was only 127F today....and it's still SPRING here

Sure, you could up-armor a hummer until it is bomb-proof, but what do you get in return? A slow, cumbersome, go nowhere target of opportunity. Hummer's have always had a rudimentary rollbar, but as Sam correctly pointed out, it won't do a darn thing for the poor gunner sitting up there.

Instead of wasting millions of dollars to de-perform the vehicle, let's add a few more hours of drivers training in teaching the silly drivers to: NOT take corners too fast in their overloaded vehicles....NOT to drive off riverbanks or into steep sided canals...NOT believe the hype that a hummer is the baddest thing on wheels....NOT think that it will easily swim that seemingly shallow stream...NOT think that the mere presence of a hummer will make the bad guys run away. Train to drive the thing correctly and safely (like we had to do with the old M151) and the accident rates WILL drop off dramatically.

Humvees have crap for a rudimentary rollbar system. The B pillar is the only thing that could hold some weight, and it sure as heck wont hold a humvees weight. As far as all humvees being uparmored, that wouldnt work either. If youve ever tried to drive a humvee on a korean freeway you definately dont want any more weight on it than is already there. The Army is working on the situation, but as with all things governmental it takes time. Strykers provide a much better solution to peacekeeping over there, but even those arent bomb proof, and they only have so many of them. But the absolute most important thing that they did with strykers is the air conditioning. Its a lifesaver. Oh yeah and training is a big one. Not too many people actually get trained taking a humvee offroad to see what it can and cannot do.
