Any Chemistry freaks out there??

Milk is a colloid, cause it's suspended particles in water (I guess that's water). Ice cream would be more of a solid, and I don't think solids can be colloids. I'm pretty sure about this one.



Metalloid- I found out that Silicon is indeed a metalloid. Silicon is in transistors. I don't know if you need to be able to bring in the item or have a oure sample of it or whatever, but it is found in almost every electronic item around. If you need a transistor, pick up a pack of like 10 or so at Radio Shack for like $3. About the other 2...
The salt formed with H2SO4 and MG(OH)2 is MgSO4, and I don't know where to get that. Search on the Internet and you will be bound to find something with that in it. Good luck!

yeah, this thread is ancient, but I'll answer the unanswered ones for fun.


4. a magnesium salt(this is one of those that can be in something else, but the magnesium salt must be an active ingredient)---

Magnesium chloride is common in sea salt.

14. a salt produced when magnesium hydroxide reacts with sulfuric acid (must be active ingredient!)

MgSO4 is the salt produced. Hm, Magnesium Sulfate....not something I think of much use for.

16. aluminum foil. Easy one.

18. pencil lead, definately.
19. CaCO3---Chalk, also Tums, or any other "antacid", CaCO3 reacts with stomach acid to raise pH.

The thread came up in a search I did, and it sounded like an interesting title, so I read it all and rdecided to revive it. Now, to put it back in the ground again.

But I'd still like to know the answer to number 14, I still can't think of a use for magnesium sulfate.

If I remember correctly, magnesium sulfate is found in many fertilizers...

4- Magnesium Gluconate (Magonate is the product name) its a salt, in the form of a tablet, used apparently for "producing soft bowel movements"

16-metalloids are found between the metals and nonmetals on the periodic table, so youve got:
Boron
Silicon
Germanium
Arsenic
Antimony
Tellurium
Polonium
*Aluminum is i think is the only exception
