          are you running xp?

if so when you save it there should be the bar on there right side to select desktop to save it too.

when you saved it to your desktop was the icon of the show desktop?

I finally got it....the problem was I was trying to drop the file on the taskbar but it is area dependant, so I had to drop it next to the start button...with the toolbar unlocked. I also discovered another way to create the file by doing the steps to create a new shortcut using the wizard and selecting the Desktop and of course that saves to the Desktop as a default and then dropping into the section between the dotted area marks with the taskbar unlocked. thanks for your help...this problem has been driving me nuts for a while now. I don't like to give up with this sort of thing..same as back when I had Win98 and I was trying to get thumbnail views for the folders enabled...that setting was well hidden but i got there in the end, of course I have that view as a default with XP but i don't like to get beat by something real simple...this is an example of that as it was just a case of dropping in the right area.
Oh I also discovered that you must have the shortcut on the desktop to allow the shortcut to work shame I can't reinstate the proper windows one but what the hell I got a working shortcut now

                *kills toolbar*

I need -help- before I go insane from trying to figure this out. Some how or another, beyond my knowledge of doing so, this browser thing got installed in Internet Explorer. It's called hotsearchbar.com bar and I've done everything from anti-virus scanning, spybot, spywareblaster to ad-aware and -nothing- is working. I even tried going through the regedit to see if I -might- be able to find anything there. I've looked through the googled pages that was suggested in this thread, but so far no luck.

Can anyone help this desperate, nearly insane girl?? Oh and I run WinXP if that helps any. *shrugs*

Any help would be most greatly appreciated.

                ~ The thankful newbie, K-chan.

Download Adaware, Spybot Seach and Destroy, and HijackThis and run them in that order...Careful with HijackThis, don't kill something unless you know it is evil.
