Portugal loses the Euro Cup

i woke up early ( for me at least) to watch the Euro Cup, but they where charging to much on pay per view. so i listened to it on a internet live feed ( thank you BBC ) . i got my Team Portugal Scarf on..my dad broke out the Porto.

i dont know if most of you had been keeping track of it.
Portugal had beat out England, France and Holland to come to the final.
Greece was the underdogs.
The match started out fine, Portugal started out fine, keeping the pressure up.
but they started lagging. and in the early second half Greece scored a shoot in, from a corner kick. the rest of the game was disapointing , portugal should have had more fowards, and the only did that till it was to late in the match. Prtugal should have won that match. they beat out much better teams to get there. they always underestimate teams!!!
im gonna go drown out my sorrows in booze.

Without being too patriotic...England did not lose to Portugal...only on paper. You watch the replay of the disallowed goal and tell me the swiss ref wasn't wrong. This is from someone who has a healthy dislike for all things to do with football.
I smell more than a little bit of a coincidence that most major events tend to feature the host nation in the final...and I include Englands only World Cup triumph in that too
I do understand America's non following of football but then what do you expect when only their women are any good at it

I am portugese and i cant bielive any of that game. we beat england spain and holland (not france ) we beat 3 of the best teams in the world to get to the finals. And we lose to GREECE. And they did beat england fair. That was a good call becuase the player dident allow ricardo (goalie) to get to the ball.
And Scolari(coach) should have taken out deco and pueleta way before it ended. bad game

Oh my god... i was dissapointed in this whole euro cup. First, my number one team Italy gets shutdown because they played horrible in every match they were in. Next, my second favorite France gets eliminated. Then, my last pick Porutgal loses.

Oh well, world cup is coming up in a few years.. i guess i can wait on brazil. By the way, does anyone know where it will be hosted?

i cant speak portugese isnt the best so i miss heard the announcer. ( im half portugese).
Deco was getting playing a little dirty today though ...just a bit though.

at least FC Porto still holds the Euro club title ( is that what its called in english... i can only remember the name of the club title in spanish.)


and Mexico still has the Americas cup.


but portugal should have really won this one!

Greece had a good team from the beginning... they were just the underdogs. Just like the NE patriots a few years ago... The thing that caught me off guard was the Checzs unbeaten till Greece. Oh, and sorry to burst your bubble, but both teams were playing defensivley for the most part, and Greece is a far better team on the defense.

I for one was glad Portugal didn't win(no offense) I hate having to drive anywhere due to all the Portugal guys celebrating by slowing the traffic on the HWY when I'm trying to get to work.

I for one, have no problem with Greece winning the Euro, just as long as they, or others, don't win the World Cup in Germany when I'm there

Paintball isn't a sport, its a game. The recent flirtation with women paintball players is the same as paying women to play football in their underwear.

Anyone who disagrees can feel free to name one competitive (meaning won some championships) all-female team in the professional division of any major league.

Well, no, no its not actually. The 'flirtation' with female players as you so laughably put it has nothing to do with women being paid to play, it's because paintball has taken on a far higher profile in society in general and more women are being exposed to it and then choosing to participate.

At the tournament I played last weekend there were at least a dozen female players and amazingly they were all playing by choice, because they enjoyed it....same as you and I.

Trying to portray women in any sport as only being a gimmick is remarkably shortsighted, not to mention just plain wrong.

Which I'm sure in your worryingly bigoted world = women-suck-at-paintball. Once again an incorrect assumption - being a male-dominated sport from the outset means that there is a far smaller talent pool to draw female players from. Pointing out the lack of all-female pro teams is about as valid as pointing out the lack of all-inuit teams.
