well if you just get a ULE RT pro then you only need MAYBE 200 more tops...that cuts what you THINK you need in half...and then maybe later when you can test out the real world and work, pay bills, take care of a family, and maybe still have time for paintball then get the body and trigger frame you really want...whats the difference if you have a ULE body or a Karta? last time i checked the gun still did the same things...you think you need money now, just wait untill some of those things i listed before start to happen, not to mention that you will be paying car insurance and gas...then see if you have money....

      Question:

Why do you need a new "gat" in the first place? Your current rig seems fine to me. It's a lot better than many people have, and it doesn't sound as if you're going to be driving around to tournaments, what with your lack of money and drivers license.

      My advice:
Stick with what you have and be happy that you have it. If you start getting greedy, try thinking about how much the $500 or so that you want to spend on a new "gat" could help other people with more immediate needs (i.e. food)
My AIM Intimidator is better than your Automag. Get over it.

WGPForLife: My advice is keep saving money the way you are now and do odd jobs and the like to build up your cash pool. If you've already got $400 then you've come a long way to what you'd need for a decent setup.
I would like to point out that you can get a base package 'mag and put a dallara/karta/etc on it later. The gripframe I would upgrade because that's performance, same with the barrel, but the body is just looks.

Not to shoot you down or anything, but face it - you're just 13. It sounds like you've been playing paintball for at least a little while now so you should have noticed that a slick body and mint anno job don't exactly make the paintballs hit their targets better. The difference between a $400 RTP and a $800 karta/dallara/logic/rogue mag is.... $400! That's it, it's just money - money that you're a little short of.

You might want to think about picking up a used 'mag - if the previous owner took even decent care of it it'll shoot as good as new. It might be upgraded a bit beyond what your budget can manage. Even if you get a bone stock 'mag used, it'll be money in the bank for later - either the air system you'll need for when your friend gets back or maybe save it for a car(or a x-mag....).

          1. okay. i have been playing paintball for the past 5 years. 4 of them being woodsy rec. for the past year, ive been speedballin. i know what i'm doing.

          2. the logic rogue DW mag i want is $531 off www.logicpaintball.com. i am 100 off. c'mon. gimme a break.

            ah, a fine question.
my response: it's not my marker. it's my friends. i'm just borrowing it for a long time.
also, i'm not a big cocker fan anymore.

also, i still go to tournaments, even if i have to get a ride with some teammates that can drive.

Well I was in your boat. 13-14 years old and no cash, yet I wanted the best highend gun out there. I saved from all my bdays and mowed grass, I pretty much did it all and saved up enough money to buy my mag. Now that I'm 16 and have a job @ 8.50 an hour I saved up a few thousand dollars within a 4-5 months. The only difference is I no longer feel the need to spend all the money eventhough I have it.

and on the "gat" thing, my friends use it, but i only started posting with it from all the "gat references on pbn. i use it once and get flamed like 10 times.

I'M SORRY, i dont use gat personally. too much references to firearms which should be kept on a completely different subject matter. im new to the whole forum experience. i checked out pbn, saw gat alot, and i supposed it was the "forum" thing to do. sorry.

I don't see a reason to spend everything on a dream gun at 13. Keep in mind, I'm not trying to bash you or anything, this is my personal opinion. If your parents are still paying for everything and all your money is going towards your recreation then its okay to spend your money, but realize that when and if your welfare is cut off (how my parents put it), having an expensive marker won't make much sense. It is like buying a BMW X5. Sure, you get the badge that says you went with logic (or BMW), but you went for name rather than value on (or in) the field. Again, this is personal preference and I totally understand buying for cosmetic reasons.

Personally, I've changed markers a good 12-13 times since I was 15 (now 18). I went from a 68 Classic Tippmann, all the way to owning two E-mags and a mech mag at the same time (heck of a lot more $$$ invested). But I am also a lot more financially secure than I was at 15. All I'm saying is that beware of how much money you are spending. It may not be a big deal if all you have to worry about is your recreational spending (mommy and daddy worry about the rest, hell my parents did at age 13, though at 15 they started charging me rent, nominal, but more as an incentive/lesson in living), but when you have to balance out school, food, girls, AND recreation financially, $520 instead of $359 will seem like a big difference.

I also think that money is there to be spent. Money in the bank doesn't do anything for you at the moment. If you enjoy something, investing in that hobby and spending it when you know you will enjoy yourself and derive pleasure isn't a bad thing. But hey, you gotta worry about the future too .

responding to NJ, personally, i believe that if this marker has the longevity of other markers i have seen, this will be the last marker i own. what i mean is, look at the 68 classic. thats been around for over 10 years, closer to 15, and it, when modified properly is still a contender. nobody will laugh at you if you have a '96 cocker. it can still compete with the rest of them and for me thats all that counts.

Simple answer? Yes. Going to Dwight-Englewood has taught me a great deal. (my grammer still sucks, but I got something out of it) The "we are just kids" excuse doesn't work after about age 13. I have seen spoiled kids. I have seen by the truckloads (or in this case Mercedes full of kids that have had everything lavashed upon them, with little or no effort on the childs part. Having a Mercedes, the best computer, the best paintball gun, doesn't make you appreciate things. Just owning it doesn't cut it. I'm not saying that all teenagers should go out and get a job, or whatever, but I find it extremely irresponsible for a teenager to live in their own world and have their parents do everything for them. There comes a time to grow up.

Who pays for paint? Entry? Gas to the field? You may not have to worry about bills, but to say "we are kids, so we shouldn't have to worry about the cost of things" is just plain spoiled and certainly will not teach you anything you would use when you are older and FORCED to be responsible.

heh, another reason why I don't think people should give you a hard time about the logic mag is because it will definately retain its value. So a few years down the road, it won't be cash, but it will be something of serious value should you not be into paintball, or be headed in a different direction.

Just because I have nice stuff doesn't mean I don't appreicate it or know about "the real world". I think it will just make us appreicate our money/work more and work harder when we are older. Saying stuff like that just makes me laugh, what do you want? Your kids to help you pay bills?

ok 1st off buddy...learn how to quote. its not hard you just click the little button at the bottom of my post that reads (and i quote) "quote"....

second off what are you going to say when you went out and bought that new DM9(the year you might have to start paying bills) and you got the awsome marker but then you have no money for house payments...or to feed your kid? what would you tell your wife? now im not tryin to say don't go out and spend 600 bucks on a marker when your 13 and have no expensises what so ever, but remeber...watch the stealthness of the ninja (or watch how fast paintball goes to the back burner when you grow up alittle) ill let you pick...
