I have heard of this before.. A number of years ago, a guy fell from 10000+ and again, both chutes didn't open and he hit the ground, bounced not once, but several times. He survived with only a broken leg, hip and arm Surprising, considering he just fell straight down.. no powerlines etc.. just ground.

I guess this just goes to prove that we truly don't know what the human body can really withstand.

Quick joke: What's the difference between falling 1 story, and falling 11 stories?

    11 stories: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH *THUMP*

    One story: *THUMP* AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Now see...the disturbing thing to me is in this article she is qouted as saying 'I'll jump again."

What? Screw that. If you fell like that, had both chutes malfunction, and you live with (relatively) minor injuries you probably need to consider yourself lucky and pick a different hobby! BTW, I always thought people in those situations died of heart attacks before hitting the ground since they suddenly realized they were going to die? Hmmm, I guess not. Maybe these people who live are incredibly hardcore (obviously).

I guess she figures that since that is like a one in a mil chance of both chutes malfunctioning, that it wont happend again. I personally cant wait to go skydiving the day i turn 18, its gona be great, i already have permission from mi madre.

A failed chute will cause enough drag to slow you down enough to survive a fall.
Don't track towards water. Water doesn't compress.

If I remember correctly, the world record for the highest fall without a parachute(without a death, lol) is from a female flight attendant from a mid-eastern country I believe. She fell out of a commerical plane at around 35k ft.

                    found the info...

A Yugoslav holds the record for surviving a fall from the greatest altitude without a parachute. Air hostess Vesna Vulovic plunged 33,330 feet into a snowbound forest in Czechoslovakia in 1972 when the airliner she was on exploded.
