and it allows me to take pictures like these. the first two are color corrected and brightened. the second two are unretouched. all four were resized. the originals were taken at 3008x2000 fine quality jpg.

I know it's not an SLR, but right now (because Gateway is going bankrupt) all their digital cameras are SUPER cheap. I just picked up their DC-T50 with 5.25 mp, 3x optical, 4x digital zoom for $150 bux. They have a lower MP (4 i think) for $100 too.
Amazing deal.

Personally I have my 18-35mm on my N80 about 90% of the time, I love wide. I would suggest checking out the 12-24DX for your D70.

I was going to buy a D70, theyre nice cameras. Unfortunately, i discovered the Canon 20D, and decided on that instead.

i got the kit lens. for that price how could i not? right now i'm looking to get a faster lens. those action shots were taken without a flash because for obvious reasons i don't want to blind them while they're doing their thing. i want to open up the aperture another stop and see if i can get their extremities to be sharp.

kevmaster - look at the pictures and tell me what you think. the last two look amazing at full size. the first two were underexposed because of poor lighting conditions and at 1600 iso are a little bit noisy. it probably wouldn't show up in a print though. especially if i could get them properly exposed out of the camera instead of post processing. the d70 produces very fine grained noise. so if i can get a lens that allows a wider aperture allowing me to shoot at those shutter speeds and get a properly exposed shot, i'd have absolutely no qualms about shooting at 1600 iso.

steelrat - yeah but the d70 is out now. have fun waiting. i needed to have a camera for the beginning of the semeseter. the first two shots are of my capoeira class which started on monday. that class is the main reason i decided i couldn't live with a point and shoot camera anymore.

I got mine from Best Buy. All I know is that supposedly GateWay is going bankrupt, so right now their stuff is going cheap. You can find both cameras on BB's website. I have the 5.25 mp version (150 bux); only had it for about a week, but I really like it.

actually they're not going bankrupt. or at least not going out of business. they're closing all their physical stores. no more gateway countries. they're going to be selling all their stuff online and through third parties like best buy.
