lol looks like I'm doing all the pissing off latly. And I think we can both agree that post have nothing to do with it.

Look I'm not passing judgment on anyone. That's not cool for some one to take your board.... bad karma I'd say... but the attitude that kids have now a days just causes trouble. I have been around a little, even have my share of "skater" friends. They are pretty cool to me but their attitudes stink... unfortunatly. And this story like so many, just makes ppl like skaters less. You'll understand when you grow up...maybe, I also know some 30 yr old that think skating is still cool when every one else has a house, boat, two cars and a wife but what ever.

So you used the legal system to make a point, cudos, longterm.... you got a major that hates skaters now... way to go. If you wanted to make things better youd find out where the mayor lives and apologize respectfully... maybe he would be more sypathetic to your cause and who knows... you might end up with a really cool skate park... not to mension, you mihgt get your boards back

On that note, if he's still a jerk about it, well that's his problem. If YOU did the right thing you got nothing to be sorry about.

Do what you KNOW is right not what makes you feel better.

Well this time, he grabs me and Jared's board, and says that we can get them back on monday if our parents call and we pay a fee of $25.

how long have you been skating? This is just nuts. He didn't take your boards, you gave them to him, end of story, he got them because you let him. You asked for it, unless he had a trip wire or something.

I dont know why, but for some reason alot of people really do dislike our 'sport'.

get used to it, it's never gonna change, there's no reason it should. Skateboarding is an illegal unconventional activity. Sidewalks are for walking and picnic tables are for picnicing. As long as you use them in a creative manner expect to be persecuted for it, just as graffiti artists are persecuted. The sooner you accept this and work within it the better. I say this as someone who's been riding the streets for over 8 years. I don't hate, but the kids today who see skating on tv and then go whine when they get caught rinding public property drag us down. Any publicity is bad publicity. The underground will never die.

and thanks for putting quotes around sport. Skateboarding is not a sport.

I've been skateboarding for almost 4 years now. I still considered he 'took' our boards, since he said 'Im taking your boards.' Im not going to try and forcefully take my board back from the mayor, thats for sure.

I know that it will probably never change, but he still didnt have the right to do what he did. We are both in the wrong(the mayor and my friend and I), but he has no actual said 'proof' that we did any damage whatsoever.



I guess its back to traveling 35 miles to the skatepark :P.

well he was told before not to skate there... so when he did it again, he violated a request.

The reason ppl hate skateboarders is because the sport carry's a stigma with it. Kinda like others think paintballers are warmongers.. .skaters are insubordinant kids. Which is all the more reason quik should apologise, it would really shake his world up to see a respectful skater.
Like I said earlier, the stigma is some what justified too, because I have skater friends. I get along with them just fine but they are extremely unrespectful to others and their attiitude in gerneral just plain sucks. Not all of them, but 3 out of 4. I go to different venues from time to time and the bands are VERY respectful and nice, but their audiance is less then friendly. Some how the music that the band enjoys causes the kids to become bad asses.
