Vettes really arent that fast, and they dont perform that great. Line up a 04 Mustang cobra with a comparable vette and youll send chevy boy with his tail between his legs. I know the price thing has been mentioned, but a cobra is a steal compared to a vette. Not that vettes are bad cars, but they are meant for an older crowd I think.

I heard that the new mustangs have a fly-by-wire throttle, can anyone confirm this? I hope it's a rumor, cause the f-150's got it this year and they can't even smoke the tires anymore, even with the bad boy V8

If I had a vette to race in and wasn't afraid of getting 2 million tickets I would put a whole lot of money on it. You can stuff 4 people in a vette especially if you have one with the third tiny seat.

Ford blocks are just made better so you get really good low end power to the rear wheels.

The only good thing about vettes are there suspension, and how well they handle.

With a vette all you are is buying a name, not a product
I'm sorry but I really doubt a bronco could be a vette unless you have some work done and he has one of those 80's excuses for a sports car with under 200 horse. Are you sure he didn't have some POS vette and that he was actually trying to race? You don't know how many times i've raced some car, been ahead and let off around 60mph or somewhere close to the speed limit only to come up to them at another light and have them going on about how they won, or not even been trying to race them and they still think they won.

no, ford makes a worse block than chevy. there are what, 2 different 351 blocks
and almoast no parts are the same.
not to mention that ford screws with transmission bolt patters, you cant run a big block on a small block tranny.

in chevy you can have a inline 6 and pull it out and drop a 454 in and only have to switch motor mounts.

also, compare prices and availibility on parts for a sbc vs parts for a small block ford.

everyone and their brother makes parts for a small block chevy.

Have you not heard about the new C6?
and "$45,000 for a near super car performance is a great deal" that is a quote from car and driver, so when you buy a vette you are not just getting a name, but you are getting something that just screams down the road,

I'd rather have a Cobra and then use the $10,000+ I saved to buy a big screen TV, or a Motorcycle, or even a complete XMag setup with Halo loader, Nitro tank, and jersey WITH the big screen TV.

Anyway you look at it, the Mustang and the Corvette aren't in the same class, so stop comparing them. Face it, the F Body is gone, and pretending the Corvette is a competitor with the Mustang doesn't make it come back.

The 2005 Mustang is just dead sexy.

I own a 1967 Mustang fastback and I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I first saw the 2005. All of the styling cues, from the dash (large tach and speedo with smaller gauges interspersed) to the front end, are all taken, then moderized, from the 67/68 bodystyle.

I'm very pleased they did not feel the need to incorporate a bunch of fake scoops in the 2005, that have regularly appeared on previous incarnations, even back to 1965.

Honestly, I think it's the best looking Mustang since 1970. And that's coming from a former 1985 and 1987 Mustang owner.
                  God gave you a soul.
                  Your parents, a body.
                  Your country, a rifle.

                  Keep all of them clean.

The new Mustang looks great online but I was very disappointed when I saw it at the auto show. It was kinda boring.

The Mustang is not a competitor with the Vette, mostly because it won't stand a chance. The Mustang is made to look good and will go when you give it gas. The Vette is an affordable racecar for the road. It's faster (track) than many cars well over its price. There's no reason to knock it, but also it shouldn't be compared to a Mustang.

I love the new Mustang, I just read an article about it in Car and Driver where they got to drive a good 140 miles. They said it improved in just about every aspect from the older moldes, and they look damn good too. It is going to be hard for other companies to match the new Mustangs performance AND keep it under 25k. Seems like Ford finally got on track with their cars and are putting out one good car after another, bravo Ford .

And about the Vette - you get what you pay for. The vette will smoke the GT in nearly every possible way, there is a reason the car cost nearly twice as much. The vette is an awesome car, the C5 made Car and Drivers top 10 list. And according to reviews I've read (haven't driven one yet) the C6s are quicker, lighter, and all around better than the C5.
