what do you think is Rammstein's best album? They're all great, but I think its between either Mutter or Herzeleid. Probably Mutter, its even more Wagnerian and over the top than the others.

If I had been commanding one of those M1 Abrahms tanks as they fought through Iraq, I would have attached speakers to my tank and had it blasting Rammstein. Well....that or the "empire march" from Star Wars, but I guess that might send the wrong signals to the Iraqis

Well, I think overall I would say Mutter but their other albums hold ALOT of good material. Sehnsucht is top of the line in catchy metal song structure, while Herzeleid introduces the band as a strong force in the industrial metal world.

This is where my bias comes in. I am listening to thier new album right now, Reise, Reise, and to be honest, this album could edge out Mutter as the best. It shows that they have grown musically, and in a positive manner. Though some may argue its a tad more mainstream, the guitar distortion toned down a bit, and the vocals not as gutteral, it still shows you the things RAMMSTEIN can do.

To stay within the contexts of this conversation, of all thier cunnretly released albums, Mutter would have to be the best. Such powerful semi-ballad songs like Mein Herz Brennt just set that disc apart from the others. Add in the get-up-and-go music found within the song Adios, mix with the semingly warlife victory song Nebel, and you have a recipe for a great CD.

            Overall: Mutter

Its cool to find other people who even know who Rammstien is, most people have never even heard of them, and when I say that was them on XXX they dont remember them.

yeah, I doubt many people in the Midwest are into Rammstein Linkwarner, present company excluded of course.

most of my college friends who really liked them were all from the northeast, like jersey, massy, and new york. They said Rammstein, and industrial in general, has a pretty big following in those states.

Industrial has a pretty big following my area. And yes I know the german version is better, I didnt feel like typing out. Ive taken three years of german and it was a first language in my great grandmothers house, so I can understand it pretty well.

From a musical standpoint RAMMSTEIN is great, but lyrically, they are pretty out there. Songs like "Zwitter" which in short translation means Hermaphrodite, and "Spiel Mit Mir" which speak of "loving" your brother.

They also make alot of old german literature references, that alot of mainstream America wouldnt understand. All in all theyll still be in my top three, for years to come.

Oh yeah, the lyrics of like half their songs are bizzare . But they still sound good if you don't pay attention to the words. I never listend to Spiel Mit Mir, the title was wierd enough (Play with me).

BTW, 3 years of german here too . There were a few Rammstein fans in my class, thats how I found out about the band.

ya i found it earlier. they dont have anything but what is on the soundtrack. and some movie site, when they dont even display the "songs used in the film" section in the credits...bah! i guess i have to try and read the rediculously small and fast moving credits on the DVD
