AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
Any AO'ers Civil War Buffs? Who's your Best/Favorite Leaders?
and Grant Comes East by Gingrich(yes that Newt Gingrich)
both are tremendous ly well written, Catton in particular is my vaforite Civil War author and historian, he writes in a manner that isn't just facts and dry text. You get shivers reading about the Wilderness, and Pickett's charge.
Catton is an awesome writer, my favorite Civil war author as well. Should check out the first two books in that series. Mr. Lincoln's army and Glory Road. I also like Shelby Foote a lot too, writes very well like Catton but from a different perspective. (Catton while fair, writes from a Northern perspective and Shelby Foote's writing is fair as well but from a perspective south of the Mason-Dixon line.
"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." --Benjamin Franklin

Already read Catton's other two, he was a great friend of my Grandmother in Michigan.
Bruce Catton's America is an excellent compilation of his works, it includes some of his Civil War stuff, Waiting on the evening train and a general look into life in turn of the century western Michigan where logging was king.
