      die in a fire. immediately.

if you have nothing interesting to post to the thread, maybe at least you could go to the aforementioned?

I was listening to the verdict live on msnbc. good to hear that the got what was coming to him. now, after the jury gets a week off, to decide his fate. hopefully they will go with the death penalty. im sure we wont see an actual end to this case for a while, with appeals and all.

ok am i the only one who thinks he should have been innocent ?

DONT GET ME WRONG: I DO THINK HE DID IT

but there is still some doubt. no murder weapon, no eyewitnesses, no CoD even.

While it does appear he did it, i stil think theres maybe a 10-15 percent chance he didn't, and if we convict everyone with those odds, thats still a resonable # of people who get sent to jail innocent.

personally, i do think he deserves what he got, assuming he did it, but there is still a chance he didnt cause they dont have any physical proof he did ...

If you werent on the jury, you're really not in a position to judge guilt or innocense. 12 people, agreed upon by the defense and prosecution, ALL believed he was guilty. Works for me.

I think this will be overturned. The judge made too many changes to the jury (maybe with reason). It just seems to me, if I were his lawyers I would be arguing that the judge tampered with the jury to force a verdict. It was not 12/12 agreeing he was guilty but more like 12/15 (or was it 14)

While it certainly gives the defense some ammunition, it actually happens quite a bit. One juror was utilizing information she had gained from sources other than the trial, which is a serious no-no. We don't know what the other excused juror did, but I am sure there was a valid reason for that.

Honestly, the lawyers for the defense are going to argue about anything and everything on appeal. Its their job. It obviously seems that the two dismissed individuals were acting as impediments to reaching a decision, as their departure was quickly followed by the verdict. Again, keep in mind that everyone on that jury was agreed upon by the defense.

Although I agree to some extent with you on how surprsingly common this may be I am curious as to why the jury foreman was replaced. As to the defense agreeing on them... failing to have someone removed from a jury pool and agreeing with them to be jurors are far different things in my mind.

Frankly I dont care what happens, I did not watch it, I do not know the evidence, nor do I really care. This case has received far too much publicity. Its only interest to me is in the watching of the legal system and perhaps in seeing some of its flaws.

Despite its flaws, its among the best in the world.

As for the jurors, the selection process allows an unlimited number of dismissal for cause requests. It only limits the number or arbitraty dismissals they can make.

P.S. seeing a murderer go to jail is in everyone's best interest.

it seems as this wasnt so much of a trial as a TV show. i even saw a episode of some gossip show that had quotes from celebrities saying "i luv to follow the scott peterson trial! it's so muc fun!, much better then most other reality shows" ( well, not in those words, but basically. )

i mean, why should a murder trial be the #1 story on all the news TV stations like 3 or 4 days in a row?? also, when the verdict was read, people outside were pumping there fists in the air and raising fingers up screaming "number 1! number 1!" ( because he got first degree conviction ... ) but if i hadnt known better i would have thought they were at a sporting event ...
