My uncle owns victory amps which make high end guitar amps and use ups to do all their shipping. UPS damaged one of the amps on shipping, it had about 60 dollars of damage and UPS refused to pay for it. I believe they use DHL now.
Screw UPS never will I use them again.

Well, I work at UPS as well. And as much as it pains me to say it, "things happen." That may be a lame excuse but you weren't there to see your package every step of the way, and by virtue of sheer volume some are bound to get damaged. Im sorry that you had to be one of the few unlucky ones to receive a damaged item, but its not up to the driver to determine if it was or not. If your parcel was not specifically ordered as "signature required" then the driver really did nothing wrong by just leaving it...As you stated before, he was probably quite embarassed and wanted to get out of there.
As far as getting reimbursed for the item, you should have taken it right back to UPS for a proper inspection. If they determine that it was not packed well enough, then its the shippers fault, if it is obviously our fault we pay the claim. I think you said you package was insured, if thats the case, it was smart thinking. I highly recommend package insurance to anyone reading this.
I hope that before making any hasty judgements, you can stop and realize that nobody at UPS has anything against you. It wasn't intentional. Try spending a day in your drivers shoes before dispensing blame.
As far as DHL goes...they are a European company based out of Germany i think. If you can't ship UPS, at least go FEdEX. They are American.I've drunk mead from man-skulls...

I am a UPS driver too, and I can back up what he said about 20% of the packages we pick up being in very rough shape. Truthfully it is so common for boxes to come into the system looking beat-up that the driver probably never even gave it a second thought. As far as waiting to talk to the customer, at least here, do you know how long we are given for a residential stop, from the time we stop the truck, until we start up again- fifteen seconds. That doesn't leave much time for in-depth discussion. All you have to do if you come home and see a damaged package that you don't want to accept that was Driver Released is call UPS up and they will pick it up (provided it is in a timely manner, you can't keep it for a few days and then call).
As far as taping a package up, it happens every day, a lot of people don't use enough tape or wrong kinds of tape so it starts coming apart, it is very common to tape boxes up. Why do you think every position in the warehouse and each truck has a tapegun.Comment

The ups guy came a few hours ago to pick up the messed up part, I handed it to him and he laughed he said that **** got ****ed up and we started laughing. Company called saying they shipped out the new piece. As for the package it was well packaged and taped well, the reason it was retaped was because the packaged was ripped in half, Nissan packages there parts very well b/c after all it is coming from Japan so its got a long ways to go. I didnt blame the driver.Comment

let me state first off that i am a ups employee.
now, for those of you who do not have a calendar, it is december. this happens to be the busiest time of the year for every single company that delivers packages. if you really expect that the ups/fedex/dhl/post office delivery person is going to camp out at your door while you take your sweet time just to get a sig you are out of your ever loving mind. when you leave the building at 8:30 and know if you skip your lunch and run full speed all day you might get home by 10, the last thing you want is to wait for a sig. this is not an excuse to leave a box in the rain or in full view of the world, but a request that if you are expecting a package, dont expect the doorbell to ring.
things break, its an unfotunate truth of life. the good thing is that it was insured and a new one is on its way. had ups done somthing earlier in the line, you would have got an empty box with a note saying "sorry we broke this" and then you would still have to wait a week to get your lights.
let this be a lesson for everyone who ships stuff via anyone during this time of year. OVER PROTECT your shiz. regardless of who you ship with they are super busy and when you increase the number of packages, you increase the chance of damage. do yourself and the reciever a favor and add a few more peanuts to the box.Comment

Also, quick question..
You opened the box which you thought looked damaged, played around with your tail lights, PUT THEM ON YOUR CAR, decided you didn't like them, and then decided to call to piss and moan?
OK...SwallowBleach: It's good for you.

Yes thats exactly what happened you stupid moron, I didnt like them so why did I bother to purchase them in the first place, hmmm why are the lights still on my car. Lets break it down heres what happened. UPS man drops package and leaves. Brother is like WTF so he brings in the package immediatly calls me saying hey your lights came except one problem "UPS ****ed up your body filler" I get home inspect everything, the rest of my parts are in awesome condition except for the body filler, 10mins after that I give B&E customs a call stating what had happened, he says he'll call back, 30mins later he calls back saying were getting you a new body filler out the door asap. so I go onto to my merry way and check out the lights and caress and stroke them as if I was caressing and stroking your moms tits, 3 days afterwards I decide to install the lights, I tried bending out the body filler did a decent job better than the 90* that UPS left. Few days later UPS rolls around and I remove the body filler from the car since I only attached 2 nuts to the screw and handed it to the UPS guy and he gave me a receipt really nice gentlemen. In case you were wondering big shot I didnt think it looked damaged I knew the thing was ****ing damaged. As for the playing with the light hey guess what big boy they came in seperate packages everything else was fine the body filler wasnt fine, what a big man you are now thinking your so tough and cool cause hey I mister know it all I knew every single bit of detail of what happened that day. Funny I called and told the owner of B&E Customs what happened and he was like hey no problem we'll ship ya another not much pissing and moaning there since no there was no need to since B&E customs was cool enough to send another at there expense well actually UPS's expense so really I put my light on after I called actually a few days after I called, who said I didnt like them I love them I didnt love how the body filler came. Hey mister E-thug I'll give you my address come down we'll chill and talk the **** you are saying in my face instead of using the internet to protect you.Comment

Well the UPS guy was doing his "Part" Of the job. MAybe some other guy working the conveyour belt was wasted, tripped and fell and the box got stuck in it and blah blah blah. Now he reports the box was damaged. Next its givin to the driver and teh driver is supposed to let you know its there becuase it has a High value content, but no hes a little sissy and runs away. Now your supposed to report to UPS and the company immediately letting them know its damaged. In your case problem solved. So ya, its not really the Drivers fault, It could be any ones!
