Ya, chances are its either written by a secretary, or its already type and ready to go.

There is a chance that the letter you got was actually from the congressman, but chances are it's a form letter or written by a staff or even an intern. I interned in the NJ US senator's office over the summer. We, the interns, answered most of the calls, dealt with most of the mail (unless it was for an important project) and handled all of the responses. Senators and congressmen have an electronic database system deally... so, we just plugged in the person's (in the office, they're called constituents) information into the database and out goes a form letter the next day. I'll bet the signature on that letter you have isn't in ink, rather it's printed on there. See, when rep. offices send out letter to their constituents, they print out the letters onto pre-signed stationary that has a heading with all of the contact information and then a sig at the bottom.

just thought I'd throw out my experience....

Meh. I'm an NJ resident. After watching the debacle that was the 02 Senate race, well, you know where I'm taking this.

That, and I live in the reddest county in the state, and helped make it that way
