Is not part of his complaint that the "racist" poster had no action taken against him?

Should that not be part of the discussion too instead of arguing racial semantics? I was not privy to the thread but it seems that he might have a valid complaint.

Their is such a thing as being overly PC, it can get to a point where anything you do offends sombody. Their is a point where people just have to realize that everyone isn't out to offend them and deal with it.

For those who say it's about the context how about these two.
                Little white boy
                Little black boy

This is the same sentance, one refering to someone of African American decent, one refering to someone of Eurpoean decent. Both of them refer to the person by the color of their skin, and both group a large number of countries together, infact the only differance is the group they are refering too. Why will people jump and call someone racist for using the second statement, but the first one is fine for anyone to use? I'm not sure of my point here but it seems like some people have double standards, and/or just take things the wrong way.

Because it IS reffering to a person by their skin colour; we should be past that. Where you are from should have very little bearing on how a person sees you; by calling someone out based on their decent, you saying "I'd rather not get to know you, so I'll use your cultural background as a guide".

                    Just my opinion.

The word Jap is an exception to the rule of context. Its not a real word. It was coined in the WWII era as a derogatory slur. The word Jew is an actual word describing someone of the Jewish faith. Now of course both can be used in either sense, as was described earlier.

The word Jap was used before WWII, and it was never derogatory unless it was used in that sense. I suppose because it was used so extensivly in a derogatory sense durning and for years after WWII people take offense to it.

Its still a way of labelling someone, and I don't know how you couldn't see that as being wrong.

this arguement is just going back and forth through people's opinion. when it comes down to it racism is just an opinion, its only a racist word if you make it one.

When you fill out a form and it says:
                              Hispanic
                              Caucasion

                              Black
                              Other

                              Is that form racist?

Absolutely! Whats so important that they need to know your race? In what way does your race affect what it is your applying for?
