Compared to Unrel Tournament it is mild, very much so IMO.

I don't remember any real swearing in the game, sometimes the marines can get angry and yell out insults but I don't remember them actually saying profanity.

The only big source of profanity when I play either Halo is all my friends when I own them.

I think pputkowski was being sarcastic as well, seeing as he mentioned Doom 3 the next line down in his post (that game is just messed up, you get to jump out of your seat plenty of times, definitely not age appropriate for any little kids).

Maybe someone can PM me why my sig was tampered
with when my image is below 20 kb and was 350x159.(20435 bytes/1024 bytes per kb = 19.96 kb.)

I'd say its completely dependant on your kids...

I played games like Doom when I way extremely young and I think i turned out decent, but some kids might be frightened/influenced by the game too much.

IMO, I think it comes down to how well they can differentiate between reality and the game world.

I think it's fine. I do NOT recommend GTA: SA for anyone under 17, but non-lifelike alien violence and the occasional use of the word "damn" shouldn't prevent kids from playing the game. It's unlikely they'll be coordinated enough to be proficient at it, but as far as content appropriation I don't see anything "adult" about this game.

Hahaha....my 9 year old sister loves that game.

It is really hillarious how much you guys think games or movies could influence a child...

And as far as dissing little kids motor skills, I have an 8 year old cousin who could whoop anyone in here's *** in halo. Several times. And make fun of you in the process.

I'm 15 :) You probably saw some pre-pubescent pictures of me a few years ago I've changed a bit.

But yea, I think its best if you rent it. I think it would be fine for the 11 year old.

I wouldn't trust my children (or step-children) to the opinions of an internet paintball forum

Compared to unreal tournament? I would say it's a little less graphic. I havent played UT in quite some time though.

Personman, weren't you at AOSE II?

I wasn't planning on relying on the opinions here. However, there are people here whose opinions I respect and therefore thought it was a good place to start. And I have not been disappointed. This can be a great place to get information. I'm going to rent it, but because of the information here I know what to look for. And if I do let them get it, I know to not allow them on Live. I would not have known that had I not asked here. I never would have thought about it. I would have found out the first time I let them use Live to play it. So, thanks everyone for responding.

I assume that is Grand Theft Auto... Based on what I heard on the news about that game I wouldn't let them get it if they were 17!

Thanks for posting. I'm now leaning toward letting them get it. I'll see after I rent it.

                      Update:

I rented it and I don't for the life of me understand why it is rated M. I use to let them watch me play Unreal Tounrament and if you ask me it is "worse". Maybe I'm missing something, but I didn't see any problems. Other than I can't get use to the controls and therefore the kid beats up on me.

I once made the mistake of letting my GF's cousins play I think 8 and 11 and after a single game of Split Screen(In which I wompted them bad. Amusing to say the least) they were at each others throats. Yah, I had to pull the plug on that one, but then they had really never 'played' a FPS, or any real violent game before that. If you put it on Legendary, the Grunts and Elites will cuss at you, and the marines will curse at everything. Online is a bad idea, I for one am known for cursing a fair amount, and can get kinda creative.

It is though a sin to own an Xbox and not have Halo 2. Its extremely addicting once you start grasping the controls. Xbox Live also a blast sometimes when you don't have to deal with the whinners.

Ugh. Just realized responded to old thread. Seems you already bought it...

My 7 year old brother plays Halo 2 alot, actually he is playing right now. He was playing Halo as a 6 yera old aswell. Its hard for him to play because of coordination, but he's alright.

Personally, I don't like him playing it because I can't play , and its pretty violent.

Your choice, but it's definetly cool for the 11 year old, maybe not the 8 year old. You know your kids better than I do.

I'll have to look into this "Lengendary" mode you speak of. I didn't hear any cussing when I played.

Nope, haven't bought it, I think. They did just get new games with mom yesterday. Just rented it. We still have it, so I can at least look.

It's not old, I just updated it! That's for the post.

Play split screen against each other. That's what we do. Actually, that is the only way I've played. Maybe "noremal" play is more violent. When you are playing against each other it's like playing paintball, and that seems to be how they view it.
