I'm not arguing it should stay open (like I said, not my forum, not mine to say...), I'm just a bit tired of the whole "demeaning to women" line of thinking being applied to anything featuring a pretty woman, or enjoyed by straight men.Brian Lojeck, [email protected]

You are a man right? Then how do you know what women think is demeaning? You don't. If women think it is, then that's what they think, you will not change it any more than a woman can change your mind about looking at it. It is a two way street, men think one way and women think another. It's your basic sociology.
**** This does not mean mean all men and all women feel this way.

Heck yeah, I'm all for the ladies having a place to share some beefcake if they want it. It would be awful hypocritical of me to say I want to see bikini chicks and not want them to see some buff 'baller run around...Originally posted by MicroMiniMeSo.... what. Equal opportunity? And that would objectify men. As a man, I would be offended.Originally posted by brianlojeckHeck yeah, I'm all for the ladies having a place to share some beefcake if they want it. See how that works? I doubt it.

wait... gimmie a minute... I know this one... ;-)Originally posted by MuzikmanYou are a man right?
I'm not really trying to change anyone's mind. Like TSC said in her first post (I'm assuming she's a her, if I'm wrong... my bad...) we're both kind of banging our heads into a brick wall with each other's opinions. I'm just trying to feel out the logic behind her opinion while describing the logic behind mine. Do that kind of discussion often enough, and people will eventually come to find a better answer. Heck, I might be completely off base and wrong... if I am someone will point out a logical fallacy to my arguments, but only through discussion...Then how do you know what women think is demeaning? You don't. If women think it is, then that's what they think, you will not change it any more than a woman can change your mind about looking at it. Just because we dissagree doesn't mean we can't discuss something.
As for me not being able to know what women think is demeaning and why, the whole demeaning argument usually ends with the yes-it-is camp saying that these depictions lower men's opinions of women (TSC and her o-ring story), and lower women's opinions of themselves (bullimia, anorexia, trying to look like the Victoria Secret models, etc....)
TSC and I are mostly wrestling with the first one, and I know (at least sort of) what she thinks is demeaning because she's told me in her posts. I'd be happy to go around and around on the second point as well, but I don't want to start that one, because I always come off sounding like a heartless such-and-such. ;-)Brian Lojeck, [email protected]
