It's hard for a band to become wildly successful like Blink while retaining their original genre, because the moment they become popular that usually puts them under the "pop" genre (POPular, POP music, get it?). That is why the Pop genre contains the most popular of each genre, and is not really a genre in itself.

Now of course all of that was BS, and I just made it up.

    Freedom is slavery

    Ignorance is strength

they so did not even come close to being punk...............yeah there earlier stuff was ok but lets face it they have become the new backstreetboys.

now if u wanna listin to some real punk go pick up sum ramones or sum sex pistols or even the clash....

now im gunna ask this once again..........can i get an amen!!

        beddy

lol what is with people? the ramones, sex pistols, and the clash are typically named when referencing "punk." Each one of those bands you named is considered "Pop Punk" you need to stop going into Hot Topic to buy your clothes.

Blink 182 was not a terrible band. I know each and every one of you saying "Oh, Blink sucked. Blah Blah Blah" got into "punk" and some of the not so well known Hardcore, Emo, Post Hardcore, etc... through starting with Blink 182. Each member of Blink 182 is 100 times more musically talented than anyone posting in this thread.

I really don't care that they broke up, but the fact that people are coming in here bashing them is kind of rediculous when even you know that you enjoyed their music at one point, and they are the reason you like some of the bands you like today.

And to the kid that said go listen to slayer, and that he doesn't like bands that go the MTV route. I hate to break it to you, but a couple years ago slayer was on MTV, and they aren't the most underground hardcore band out there. Your statements seem somewhat contradictory.

Pennywise and Bad Religion are not punk. They are Anarchists, that doesn't make them punk.

edit: I am not calling myself "Punk" by any means. I think a lot of the social classes out there today are a bit rediculous. Real "Punk" is underground. Pennywise and Bad Religion are mainstream, and could be considered as Pop Punk.

So what The Vandals are punk, The Misfits, The Casualties, The Transplants.

And neither band are Anarchists, they are radicals, but not anarchists.

So if a band that you considered punk, becamse popular they wouldn't be punk?

Did you really just say that Pennywise aren't Anarchists?

                Pennywise - **** Authority.

Now it's time to rise against them
                We're sick of your treason
                Sick of your lies
                **** no, we won't listen
                We're gonna open your eyes
                --------------------------------

Oh yeah, they definitely aren't Anarchists...They love the US Government. Actually, I heard they do attend annual tea parties with the President.

Yes because everyone who hates the current state of the government is an anarchist.

And because they don't want a government, they appeared on Rock Against Bush, which tryed to get Bush out of office, and basically Kerry in.

                  You never answered my question.

Maybe everyone at the FCC will die and we'll get to listen to real music on the radio.

When a band has to be approached by a producer and told that if they want to be on the radio they have to have a clean CD then you know the world you live in is ****ed. People complain because "OMGOMGOMG He said the f-bomb on TV!" Then why were you listening?

Blink 182 wasn't bad, they just got used up like all the other bands that fade over time.

I hate to break up moron uniformed fest 2005, but..

MTV brings viewers the best in lifestyle and competition reality shows, plus live events featuring the biggest names in entertainment.

i am a fan of blink 182s music. more to the point, I am a fan of travis' drumming. I only hope that during this hiatus that travis has some more time to work with boxcar racer and the transplants, 2 of his other side projects. both, good music.

They didnt break up, Travis Barker said that they are taking a break but they will be back. I liked Dude Ranch and Chesire Cat when I was 14.

I believe the new NIN are:

Halo 18: The Hand that Feeds - April 11th
                              Halo 19: With Teeth - May 6th

And I listed the tour dates.

Back to Iron Maiden, now thats a good band.
