Locked myself out of my house.

I have one of those stupid locks that you can open from the inside even if it is locked. Repair guy showed up early to look at my stucco, I hurried out of shower and put on a different pair of pants w/o my keys... write him a check, and realize later I'm locked out.

I found an old credit card in a box of stuff, and used the only cutting device I had available - a chop saw- to cut it in half. It didn't work out too well and I gave up. Had a hammer, and found one of these in my garage: <img src="http://www.mycableshop.com/300x300/PLATE15.jpg">

Folded the 90 degree part about 4 folds to make it thicker - had myself a make-shift slim jim. Luckily my door gives a good amount when the deadbolt isn't locked.

1.5 hours later, and some bloody fingers... I opened the stupid door.

i have a crapload of those laying around from various upgrades and whatnot. thats excellent that it worked for you. ahhh, life in the computer age!

i have a bad habit of locking my keys in my car, over the years i have learned how to get into almost any car. when i bought my last car i had 3 sets of keys made and strategically located them. turns out my power door locks dont work with the keys in the ignition, its impossible to lock the doors with the keys in so i have not as of yet locked my keys in this car. as always im a day late and a dollar short.

haha this reminds me of the spongebob episode where they get paint on mr. Crabs first dollar... and there trying to get it off... and patrick is all like, "We're not cavemen spongebob! We have technology!" And then smashed the computer on the dollar

I have the same type of lock, and damn do I hate it. But I carry a key in my wallet so that doesnt happen. But when I forget my wallet, there's hell to pay.

"No, really officer. This is my house!!"

we always leave our house unlocked(unless we're on vacations or night), so i don't have this problem :)

The lock on my bedroom window is broken, so whenever I lock myself out I have to go all and climb in. Luckily no cop has been driving by when this happened

I forgot my keys one day that I took the bus to school, my parents went to halifax for the weekend so I was home alone and they were four hours away. Deadbolt and doorhandly lock and no keys. And it was like -35 out.

I booted it and it opened. Had to replace that wooden thing on the side of the door though.

My parents left to go out of town for the weekend and later that day I had to run outside and let the dog on the deck. Same situation - door that opens from the inside even when locked. All I had on was a white t-shirt and some shorts. It was raining so I ran out, shut the door to "keep the heat in" and then came back to a locked door.

Luckily I leave my truck open and keep a spare house key in the glovebox.

I locked myself out of my house just a few weeks ago.

Luckily, I had a torque wrench and a pick in my backpack. I only just started to pick locks, and this was the 3rd lock that I ever picked. It took about a half hour, but in the end- Victory was mine!

Miscue, do you lack a door on your garage to your domicile?

Totally the opposite happened to me. Me an a coworker actually got locked inside a room. We were at one of our remote sites working on a site consolidation project. We were basically finished with the project and everyone besides me and my coworker left. We went into our MDF room(comm room) to get some equipment. We let the door close behind us without realizing that you can't open it from the inside. We decided to use the overhead paging system hoping that the cleaning crew would hear us. 30 minutes later and many keys later, the cleaning crew came in and let us out.
