Bolter you do surprise me but to be fair it can be called different things around the country...it is also called Tin Can Tommy..and in the vein of Chinese Whispers.. Tin Tam Tommy (that one is obvious to see how it changed) but both are still Block. As I have said I lived in both the north and now the south again as you know so I have been exposed to other names for the same thing for a lot of different things.

Another great one is Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels. The scene where Rory Baker is watching football in the bar is great. Voiceover with subtitles.

Definately not making it up, it is a kids game again it is possible that you called it something different. But since when did Harrow play the games that us mere mortals played, eh Simon

Only other clue I will give it is similar to Bulldog or British Bulldog if you prefer that title, I never liked the "British" tag but then since it appears America calls everything that they play as a World something or other I guess we might be allowed to claim something for ourselves

Because if the French played baseball, everyone would play left field, and no one will be safe!

I agree I am at a loss. Fess up already I am having trouble sleeping at night, and when I do sleep it is a weird jeopardy type dream where Simon Cowell (from Idol) is the host and I find myself wishing that they would give me life line like on Millonaire. There I stand on a world televised game show about ready to cry whena adorable brit walks out and simply tells me to think of Bridget Jones... After that it is all a blur..... I think it was a sweet accent/adorable brit overload....... Awhh but what a dream...
(please disregard the above paragraph, as usual I have no clue what I am typing)

What was I responding to again... oh yea.. the brit thing......ahhhh...

We actually play "british bulldog" at my daughters school quite often... you have the players line up at one end of the field. there is one player in the center who is the "bulldog" someone yells go and the players all try to make it across the field without getting tackled by the bulldog (at daughters school you have to lift them up with both feet off the ground). Those who are tackled are now bull dogs and stay in the center...The last player who has not been tackled wins. Anyone wanna see pics?

So what do i win??? Hmmm can I pick my prize?

When I was little, we called the "Chinese Whispering" game "Operator". That was in SoCal, so you already know it's a different world from the rest of civilization.

Cameo...Your description of British Bulldog is close enough (it is played up around the age of 11..an infant/junior school thing I would guess since I never played it again once I changed schools at 11) however the difference is that we played on of all things the netball court (though a basket ball court would work too) one large group of people all start in the shooting circle and one person is in the rest of the court and the person in the middle selects one person as the victim, who then has to get to the other ends shooting circle without being tagged (tackle is a little rough ) once they get to the half way line then all the others waiting can also try to get to the other end any tagged are removed...the tactic to get the most people the quickest is to select someone and just let them run past you as there are better chances to get the people in the larger group..whoever is tagged first then will become the chaser for the next round....still not fessing up about Block/Tin Can Tommy but it is similar to the above in so far as it involves lots of people and one person...thats as much of a clue as I can possibly give
