Legal drug...Salvia

Does anybody know anything about the new drug I guess you could call it named Salvia? Everyone around here is doing it now and I think its some type of Hallucinogen you can buy at any smoke shop. I believe its a leaf form. Im not into drugs myself and would never do it because it seems like a mild form of LSD. I dont understand how they can have legal hallucinogins(sp?) for sale. Did all street drugs start off legal like this before the gov. got around to banning them or something? Maybe im just too young to know.....because I dont remember any street drugs being able to be bought over the counter.

BTW mods this is about a legal substance, not drugs, just remember that when your thinking about closing my thread.

Holy that stuff should be illegal. Read about peoples experiences with it somewhere on that sight. Its some scary stuff.

Nothing new. A few of the guys on Bubba the Love Sponge tried it and talked about it for awhile like 2 years ago. From what I remember it's made from the root of a type of Sage Grass and comes in different strengths dependent on what part of the root it was from. It was supposed ot be similar to pot but get you stoned in just 1 or 2 hits and made some people hallucinate.

I think drugs are stupid, so therefore I've never tried it, but yes you can buy it at head shops.

As for street drugs being once legal, LSD was legal for awhile because the cops didn't know what the hell it was. I think Cocaine used to be used as normal pain medicine. As for other drugs, I have no clue.

tried it...felt like smoking some type of other herm but no effect to me.

its effects are MILD at best, i also wouldnt compare it to lsd(VERY powerful psychoactive)

i would say try it once if you dont like it dont do it. if you like it feel free to do it peridoicly but dont make it a habbit.

--edit as for drugs being legal...thety seem to stay that way until a large group of people ebgin to abuse them because of their easy acces.

Most all drugs were legal at one time. It's mostly because no one knows of their side effects.

Pot was legal until the 1930s

Coke was legal for years and was used in many different things. It could be bought over the counter just like asprin.

ya I dont know it doesnt make sense to me, something relatively harmless like marijuana is illegal yet something that makes you hallucinate and forget who you are and go unconscious is pefectly ok to buy at your local smoke shop.

There are. Marijuana is not originally an English word, and in the past has been spelled with an H rather than a J. So no, you didn't catch Erowid, perhaps the Web's most complete and definitive drugs information source, slipping.

As for questions of why certain drugs are legal and why some are illegal, take some time to read about the campaigns to make various drugs illegal. You'll find that often a lot of politics (sometimes personal) was involved, and when that happens, the truth is often an afterthought.

Salvia is an ornamental type of grass. I've got some in my front yard--it's actually very pretty. I'd never consider smoking it though--I mean, how stupid can you be? "Oh, this plant is attractive, I wonder if it'll get me high?"

yes you can spell it more than one way, the way they spell it on that site is how they spelt it a while ago. That site has just about everything you need to know about drugs.

And like said before it's no new drug by any means. Its been around for a while, personally I think its not a drug because the effects aren't that great. Most people perfer weed much more, as do I.

yes, but do we not already know the side effects on Salvia?? It's almost like a lot of other drugs out there, so why is this legal where as pot, marijuana, etc. are not??

i'm not trying to get all drugs legalized, because i think they're pointless, stupid, and a waiste of time.

My friend got some of that stuff, man he was going crazy...but i refused to try it ... yay me but yeah its illegal to smoke i think or i tmight be only illegal if yore under 18 im not sure but yeah pretty wierd stuff edit i think theyre tryting to make it illegal to posess to....im not sure though

ive never tried the stuff but many firends have and they alls ayt that after 3 or 4 tries u really start feeling it but to get it to be a crazy trip u need 10tiems extract. But when u do feel it is pretty muych instant like i have heard mid of your first hit u feel it and there is also a proper way to smoke it. But from what i have heard the trips last bout 2 mins but are extremely crazy, like halucinating and talking to trees and what not. Then apparently there is a hour to two hour after glow which i have heard is nice. So if u wanna felel it keepi trying i guess, and from what i have heard there are no negative side effects.

I think it's just that you have to be 18 to buy it, like tobacco.

Edit: On the subject of drugs that used to be legal, GHB was legal for awhile. I remember reading that GNC sold it for awhile.
