I'm a fan of AFI, the Misfits, and a little bit of Green Day and the Offspring. I don't pay too much attention to any others. I'm a metalhead, first and foremost.

operation ivy (they have one cd out but theres more that you can only get on e-bay i have like 6 )

the suicide machines (there only good cds they have out is Destruction By Definition and Battle Hymns

pennywise all of their cds are basicly sound the same. fast beats and all. to me the best of their cds are about time and land of the free

reel big fish ( more of a ska band with horn's)

goldfinger ( an other ska band. i have all their cds but from their first cd to their most resent one its starts from like punk to like pop punk but their newer cds are really good also.)

The stuff I listed DOES sound like Hawthorne Heights, and Hawthorne Heights isn't even REMOTELY underground.

First of all, what everyone needs to realize is that "punk" is an attitude, and not just the way the music sounds. It's the big "F-you!" to authority and normal society.
In that case, Social Distortion and the Sex Pistols don't sound alike, yet they can both be accurately classifed as punk. The Ramones, on the other hand, don't sing about anarchy and social rioting; however, they defied a musical genre by going outside the norm--therefore, they are accurately classified as "punk".
Now, apply this to bands such as Blink 182--where do they fit into the "punk" genre? They don't. They don't sing about things like Social D or the Sex Pistols. In fact, they have more in common with the Ramones--except that they haven't pioneered crap as far as music goes. Blink's lyrics aren't "punk", and their music isn't "punk", so guess what? THEY ARE NOT PUNK.
Bands like Pennywise, NOFX, Dead Kennedys, Circle Jerks, Misfits, etc. all go against the grain; both musically and socially.
Just because a band only plays three chords and screams, doesn't mean they are punk.

And yes, "it's my job to keep punk rock elite"...
