WoW is in simple terms an MMORPG that is not as slow as some of the older classics like Dark Age of Camelot or EverQuest but offers IMO, a refined RPG that Diablo 2 should have been.

You are in charge of 1 character like D2 but there are 2 main "sides" Hoard vs Alliance. Each side has 6 races to choose from each with their own racial bonuses and appearance. You skill up you character both in levels and combat skills but also in up to 2 trade skills and various other tangential skills.

The thing about WoW that D2 could not make happen is that, while you CAN play the game by yourself (and reach lvl 60) there is a great benefit to working with groups of player to complete quests. Unlike D2 where you could rush yourself up to lvl 85-90 and complete any quest with relative ease, many (if not most) quests necessitate a group of players (and variety actually help in Wow).

Some of the higher level quests even require 40 person raids just to complete. So the game can still be played by yourself, but working with a group will allow you to find much better items and level up faster.

It's such a large game that there are what... 36 servers now? Some are PvP where you can kill anyone and anything (that is the fun/risk) some are PvE (no real person to person fighting) and some are.... furry...erm I mean Role Playing servers.... we won't go there though.

The turn offs for me where the $$ per month thing they want, but what brought me around was this bit of info. Remember how in D2 you have to check your character every 90 days or its bye bye to your lvl 99 barb? I HATE that. I keep all my old D2 characters alive because I like to hop on now and then. I KNOW that I will burn out of Wow for a bit at some point. I dont want to have to keep paying every month just to keep him alive!

Turns out you dont have to . If you dont pay, you just cannot play with the charicter(s) the account lasts forever but you can pay for the time you want to play and then stop. like that, Ill pay for that. Besides they actually keep the hacks and bugs down since Blizz is getting mad bank off the monthly income.

So I like it. It's more of what I liked in D2 and unlike D2 I will PvP. I liked the idea in D2 but with Ith blades, wiz gloves, Hex charms and all that other crap, I was not about to give some 13 year old eBay kid the satisfaction of killing me.

I just scimmed your post so dont yell at me if any infos wrong.I dotn pay for D2 no one does. i belive you WoW folks are paying for us hehe and D2 is not good for the quest everyone just gets rushed and levels.I myslef play it for the customizeabitly(somthign like that) and the PvP...someone else said "when necros could do stuff" hrm in any other patch necros were week bastards..in .10 they are so good ..just take skill. Yea i sound like a little PC geek.

Wow (I mean the expresion) my thread went from wow > D2...

I started another character so now its
Achillesmon-49 pally (mining/blacksmith-Armorsmith)
BombTracK- 31 Rogue (mining/engineering)
Insperation- lvl 6 Warlock (enchanting)

oh, i was kicked out of my guild (really stupid reason-i asked for help with ore)

I guess the moral of the story is don't ask for help...or don't join a guild just because your friend is in it cause they might be a group of stupid ppl (like your friend )


...on a side note...i drove a Chorvette (sp?) today ... i might buy it since i know the person selling it

I would have to say that is true in some cases but not other.s Good Squad (and the 4 other factions is makes up) is actually quite a resource for me. mostly intelligent people where it's easy to find an instance group and because it's so large anything really is available at a nice price comparred to the general AH pubbie prices.

Just took part in a 35 player raid where we where all lvl 55+ took us about 45 min and each of us dying about 6 times to kill that big blue dragon in Azarah or where ever.

lol, i saw a giant red dragon in the wetlands while trying to do the felhunter quest. I had no idea where to go.

I just reached 50 a few days ago and i am already planning for that dragon and others .
I think it would be a good ideas to have the parties of the raid with people in your guild/ people you have worked with before (i know this is ideal but thats just the way i would like to do it) Also, in each group have 2 healer/2 tanks-fighters/ and a mage or warlock.

Funny thing about raids on my server, they are usually unorganized. I once headed a 60 man against horde that came to SW then to IF (and i was only lvl 30!) i was commanding 60's and all. Fun stuff. After dealing with the horde we headed to the Undercity for some good ole' revenge. Took it out by coming through sewer . I guess the point is making sure you group people who know each other/ are the around the same level or you'll just get lvl 22 priests healing 60 warriors and well, that just doesn't work.

Try going with a human just because of the weapon bonuses and spirit increase (racial advantages) I never played a dwarf but go ahead an look at them. (Its just been in my experiance most dwarves are hunters/paladins)

Fear ward all the way, best races for priests are dwarves and undead.

Be interesting to see the effects now. I'm guessing no more solo leveling, and getting levels 48-60 will be a lot slower.

Been 60 for a few weeks now, and I'm working on getting the mats for the Arcanite Reaper.
