Once the two people reach the LEGAL age of consent then all is ok, even if you might make a comment of a 30 yr old being with a 20yr old...it doesn't matter as they are both over the age of LEGAL consent. If she says she did it willingly theres nothing they can do against him i know about this because i know someone that wanted to put charges against his daughters BF and she was 15 they couldnt do anything against him since she did it willingly.

It won't wash the simple facts as stated in this thread are
1 The girl is 15yrs old
2 The boy is 19yrs old
3 The parents are charging the boy
4 Age of consent...the age at which you are legally allowed to say yes is 16 for this state.

Simple maths tells you there is a case to answer, a possible loophole exists due to an age difference but then we are not aware of the exact birthdates in question.
It is even covered in the legal jargon (second post) that saying that said she was older then there is still no defense.

What we aren't aware of as such is if the girl is still on good terms with the boy...regardless of her saying yes "I asked for sex"..also covered in the second post is what is often described as "heavy petting" which also counts as statutory rape.

The Parents, the LEGAL gaurdians are making the charges...it won't matter how loud the girl shouts that she wanted sex, the age of consent is set on the understanding that anyone below that age is legally incapable of making the descision to say yes to sex.

The example you have used is the one about the other guy who got away with it...legally he shouldn't have, assuming the same state as this thread is based.
I personally find it very confusing that what is legal in one state is illegal in another, I don't have that problem where I live, same laws for all of the country which is way easier.

I know many have said it already but ill say it again get a lawyer if its privided by the state or you pay for it.They deffintly know more about law then the average person and know the little loop holes.

Even the best lawyers wouldnt step into court without a lawyer to help defend them.

I say if she agreed to have sex then its fine. She's old enough to make well informed desicions and i think it stupid the parents are pressing charges because the girl might not want this incident brought public. I say if the crime that is done against a person then only that person should be able to press charges not anyone else.

She is not old enough to make well informed decisions - the law in most states reflects this. I say this - touch my daughter (when there that age) and pray the police get to you before I do Maybe by then the law will be how you want it, and trust me, I wouldn't have to worry about you pressing charges

To the person i question, keep your mouth shut and get an attorney. That is pretty much the best advice no matter what you may be charged with.

When you want to quote me quote all of the post not the part that you might happen to think covers your arguement. It is statements like yours that for many americans must make them feel glad that you are too young to vote. How young is old enough? A line must be drawn somewhere, for the state in question it is 16 not 15 not 15 3/4's but 16. If you live in this state and you take your GF to bed if she is 15...(only 1yr younger than you) by the states statutes you are committing Statutary Rape, regardless of her wishes this would probably still stand if you were visiting the state in question. The girl is a minor so of course it is her parents that press the charges, this is the same regardless of if the girl cried rape or the parents walked in on them, read a diary etc etc. The state has decided that 16 is the LEGAL age that you have to reach before you can make the choice to consent to sex, go campaign on a street corner and see how much support you get, of course do it in a High school then of course all your buddys are going to say "hell yeah" again thank goodness they can't vote. Still want to keep this arguement going?
