I complained to a cop about them doing that once (I have several friends who are cops). They told me most of the time when you see them doing that they are responding to a call where they are not authorized to "go code" (turn on the lights and siren and completly ignore traffic laws). When someone steals the radio out of your car at 2am they are expected to obay all traffic laws on the way to the call but the faster they get there the better chance they have of catching the guy and the faster they can move onto the next call. That doesn't mean that they don't do it for the heck of it every once in a while.

ok, so say this other wise good person who drives a little fast doesn't have time to stop for a pedestrian in the street or a car that's stopped in the road.Originally posted by frontrunnerwhy bust an other wise good person who dirves alittle fastThe very existence of flamethrowers proves that sometime, somewhere, someone said to themselves. Out of luck...I looked up the laws about speed limit. The "prima facie" is the set speed limit on a road where there is none posted...residential and business districts, along with parks, have the same "prima facie" for some reason...set at 25 mph. So it doesn't matter if there's a posted speed limit or not...the judge will probably say that I should have known the prima facie and make me pay...they didn't teach me that stuff at driver's training back in the day though

Keep in mind people that driving is a privilege not a right. You take a test to understand the rules of the road and the laws and by receiving a license you are shown that you have successfully learned those rules and laws. If you get stopped by a cop for violating them you can whine all you want but ultimately you have NO ONE to blame but yourself. If you feel you have been wronged then it is your right to fight it in court. I read a statistic somewhere that said almost 75% of all traffic violations get thrown out in court so give it a shot if you feel lucky. If you don't then take your lumps and learn from it...it might save your life someday.
Oh, and for the record...no my record wasn't spotless when I was younger. I made my mistakes but I learned from them. Hopefully someday you will too.

Yeah, I already said I'm basically blowin' smoke out my *** here, because I know I was in the wrong...being in the wrong without knowing it is the part that frustrates me. I'm not going to try to fight it because I have no chance of winning...yeah, maybe I'll learn this time....

Haha, last tournament I did up at TC I was driving. We may have been a little late and that stop sign with the Mobil on the corner in the middle of nowhere - well that roads crowned, and when you take it with any speed you can see everything in the back of the truck hit the topperOriginally posted by skifehey man, at least you didn't run a stop sign that you didn't see because a red van was parked in front of it....
