Un question dans le francais... (grammer question)

for a french project, we have to do a commercial. we chose to do an anti-depressant, and are calling it "bonheur" or happiness.

what i wanted to ask is if the following is grammatically correct if it is a command:

    obtenir quelque bonheur

i took my hamper, and are turning it into a giant pill, so i wanted to put that as the slogan

Are you trying to say "Buy Happiness." as a command to the formal tense?

I think you want the conjugated verb, which would be "obtinez" assuming thats regular. Also, I'd think "du" would be a better preposition.

      So, "Obtinez du bonheur!"

/note, its been years since I've studied. Not sure on your verb... if its irreg/reg, and if its the best choice.
God....I guess I was probably returning videotapes.

The phrase you posted is not a command. It translates most closely as "to get some (unspecified) happiness".

Do you want "get some happiness"? That would be "Obtenez du bonheur". The imperative (command) form is always the singular or plural second-person conjugation.

I'm not sure who got the spelling right, but our Canadien friend is incorrect in that the imperitive form uses the formal second-person conjugation. I think.

Depuis quelque temps que je peuvais parler avec un canadien. Mais, la bout une c'etait ma petite amie, et je ne veux rien de c'est conversations avec M. Jeffy.

/edit: he got the spelling. dang.

Dans certaines situations c'est permis d'utilser le singulier. Comme celle ici: "fermes ta yul, chalice!"

                  WOW!!!

This definately proves the rule use it or loose it. I took 3 years of French in High School and can no longer speak or understand hardly a word....

                  dang wasted time

Well, usage is very important. Keep in mind that I studied (OK, took) French from 3rd grade through 11th. Ended up in French IV, reading books and stuff.

I also had a French-Canadien girlfriend in college. I'd make her practice with me and stuff.

Now, I can speak with all sorts of nationalities. Like the French! And, uh, French-Canadiens. And a country or two in North Africa.

                    Awesome!

according to babelfish, what you said makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

besides french is for yellow people that smoke cigarettes and write shallow poetry.

                              take THAT! Edmond Rostand!
